Hi the Movie came out a week sonner on this side of the pond for once we Irish fans get the movie first.

My local cinema has it showing in four screen two in 3D and two in 2D.

I went to a 2D show as I know the movie was shot in 2D.

Without giving away spoilers the movie is full of action and noods back to the old Trek movies.

The brewery is still there but it is used more tastefully.

Ok no spoilers but I can tell you about the effects and the action. There is a lot of action happening on earth and we get a really good look and 23rd century city life. The Enterprise has a new warp core room not in a brewery but the brewery in still in there. We also see a new shuttle bay with all the shuttles stacked up while the actors walk around them. The action is intense in space and on earth and a couple or other worlds one of which Trek fans should know pretty well.

There are a plenty of nods to the original series and the movies. The crew are still only getting to know each other Scotty calls Kirk a rude name. The movie itself is in the top 3 or 4 and it's the best one in years. The major plot points have been hidden in all the trailers and I really do not want to spoil anybody's enjoyment.

The Wrath of Khan Spock dies.Generations the ship crashes.Star Trek 2009 Vulcan is destroyed.

In the same vain I do not want to spoil it for Trek fans and I am glad the powers that be gave us Europeans the movie first before all you Americans went online blabbing the whole thing.

The only problem with this Trek movie is we will never settle for a small budget Trek movie ever again.

Also when ships take damage in this movie it not a few cables falling out of the ceiling think Revenge of the Sith opening battle damage or worse.

It came out on the 9th here too -- I enjoyed it very much. Thankfully the shaky cams and flares seem to have been toned down since the previous movie as well. The premise was interesting (with one or two minor disappointments, but no deal breakers.) I want to see it again. Actively avoiding spoilers till I got the chance to watch turned out to have been a very good decision.

...into darkness indeed

What have they done?

As I don't want to spoil the new movie for anyone (it has some bad surprises an I laughed through half of it), even though it could probably save lives...let me just say this: Star Trek is dead - rest in pieces. I have to admit being a hardcore fan makes it quite impossible for me to be objective in this. While I could live with the most part the story of Mr. Abrams first attempt, the way it was produced comes close to a catastrophe. With the new movie they achieved something wondrous - they topped it. STID is by far the worst of the Star Trek movies as it has nothing to do with Star Trek but the name. Even if it were just a parody I would rather watch a whole movie of Jar Jar Binks (being the worst fictional caracter ever created) than ever set a foot in an Abrams ST movie again! To think that I paid 12 Euro for this piece of time theft an torture...

In an attempt to put in "a few nods" to earlier ST movies they deliberately took some of the most emotional moments of trek history tweak it around an kick them with their feet, by this killing an already bad movie in the end... Blessed are those who do not know Star Trek. They will no doubt enjoy the movie as it follows a long line of badly produced, fast paced, shallow storytelling in cinemas lately. This movie is stupid popcorn cinema at its best. This is not Star Trek! If I want to see a zombie movie or another toy robot live action movie, where everybody is wise enough to switch of any logic circuits at the begin of such a movie, then I do this by my own choice. I do not expect this from a Star Trek movie. Sorry! I always considered Star Trek fans to be and demand something more intelligent.

I had hoped that there were some people left at paramount who know the original an Gene's vision and that they would prevent something like this to happen to one of the milestones scifi history. Someone to have said 'you shall not pass'.

Long live the money making machine hollywood, turning us all into brainless teletubbies.

I'm eternaly gratefull for the work and ambition the people at CBS put into ST TNG-R. I just finished the third season of TNG. I don't think we will see something like this again in future...

I went to see it in 2D too have no interest in the fad That is 3d.

Iwill be honest here and say that I enjoyed the movies there is lots off action and humour in it and it is a bit slower than 2009s film to start off but thats because this film has a better story to it . It might not be a very Star Trek  story like in the Wrath off Khan or The Motion Picture for instance but its not bad .At the same time this easily could be just any scifi movie and it is certainly not 100 per cent Star Trek there is nods to some off the  Star Trek films and series in it do .  . There is lso a few mistakes in it and I am sure iff you know your Star Trek you will spot them just lie I did .  I was stll  disapointed a what is sposed to be the engine room I will not say whatI think it looks like for now untill our friends across the pond get to see it . There is a very regocnisable world in this too but there is also something in this that should not be anywhere near that world  and has to do with another race altogether .

Just go to  it  don,t take it too seriesly and you should enjoy it. But iff you are looking for a film that is going o be 100 per cent trek I think them days might be gone for a while . They  willl and shull allways belong to the Prime Univverse .

It was great to get it this side off the bond first  and it most definatly is a way better film than Iron MAN 3 which I just did not like at all just seemed like it was trying to hard and did not even have a proper villian .

I went to see it in 3D yesterday and have to say I really loved it. There still a few things I do not like about the new Star Trek movies though, but those certainly do not make me like them any less.

I litterally just got back from seeing the film and to give it a rating out of 5, i'd say 5 but it does stray off the 'original' timeline slightly but theres some really good twists which any fan of the original series (and their films) would get. The film overall was epic and i dont see why some newspapers or non-trekkie reports are saying its not as good as the last one but it does stray a littl bit off what star trek is all about; which is the exploration of space and generally being peaceful...This film wasn't really very peaceful but it was brilliant and i hope there will be another one in the future.
