>>VOTES WILL BE COUNTED ON MAY 24-25, UNDECIDED VOTES WILL GO TOWARD A GUILTY VERDICT,

why/?because you want so despratly to be right that you are willing to cheat?

undecided should be just that, undecided, or at least split evenly.

>I didn't say action adventure. I said "dazzling effects, pew pew! lasers and a loose cannon captain", of which TOS and TNG do not have.  No one said Star Trek didn't have action.  But it didn't rely on it like Abrams does. And the captain models in all of Star Trek are very far removed from NuKirk.

>

Really? Kirk had his impulses, so did Sisko. The point is that NuKirk is young and not refined. We have never seen an inexperienced captain working on becoming seasoned. Its ridiculous to assume that nuKirk would behave the same as old Kirk. I wasn't aware that a prerequisite for being a Starfleet captain was to not have emotions. If that was true, then I guess that explains Captain Tracey flying off the handle in "The Omega Glory" or Archer betraying an ally's sensitive intelligence post to their enemies in "The Andorian Incident."

Oh, if effects were not so important to GR then why all the eye candy in TMP? How about Nemesis, with its gratuitous chase screen, and where Picard acts like, to quote you, "an asshat." Shatner even goes so far as to argue that if the effects that he wanted had held up Star Trek V would have been a success.

Your really worried about this farce of a trial by our resident loonie with more multiple screen names then there are grains of sand on a beach?

You do know that when the song "Send in the Clowns" play's this creature is the first to waltz in followed by it's clones.

Just sayin...

Because on this board, if you staunchly oppose Abrams, you're either crazy or a troll or both.

Talk about lack of IDIC.

It is okay, bunkey, those who worship Abrams Trek are afraid the movie will not perform well so they fear opposition towards it, we know what good Star Trek is, let the numbers speak for us..

THE COURT HAS FOUND OUT, THAT WHILE STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS HELD THE NUMBER 1 SPOT OVER THE WEEKEND MAKING $70.6 MILLION, IT DID NOT MEET THE STUDIO'S EXPECTATIONS OF $75.2 FROM THE FIRST MOVIE ! ABRAMS IS MAKING THE WRONG MOVES.. HENCE ANOTHER CHARGE-

16. Messed up the Klingons- The Klingons are proud warriors, not a group of soft whimps in masks who hides in shadows.

Greatness comes to those who really want to do anything to get it.

The film has already performed well.  The original projection was $85 million for the 3-day weekend before Paramount moved the release day up.  On doing that, they thought they'd get $100 million.  They overestimated.

That said, the movie's performance was solid.  It's a hit, it's making a lot of money, and it has an 87% rating on rottentomatoes.com, putting it at #4 from the best-to-worst ST films.

So, who really cares if it didn't make the overly-optimistic $100 million in the wake of Iron Man 3?  Yeah, it's a bit dissapointing, but STID's doing great and it's a hit with the critics and the audience and that translates directly into better box office.

More importantly, STID's performance virtually guarantees another ST film with this cast.  We'll get at least 1 more film, probably sooner than 4 years.

And, btw, if we're charging Abrams for STID's not meeting the $100 million projection by Paramount, which the analysts all say was overly optimistic, are we going to charge Rick Berman for failing with the last two TNG films, INS and NEM.  Especially with NEM, which was a bomb with the critics and the audience and was the only ST film not to open #1, being beaten by the J-Lo film, "Maid in Manhatten?"

Funny thing, that's what GR billed TOS as is action-adventure.

Abrams just modernized it.

Gene pitched it as a western. "Wagon Train to the Stars" he called it

Other than the Spock-Uhura thing, I think that JJ Abrahms has helped Star Trek by keeping it alive. They are also no the same crew as from the original series. Same names, but a different timeline.

Abrahms did not create this to mimick TOS. And I think he did a pretty good job of keeping some things and adding others in.

OMG...That is way too rich.
Invoking IDIC while condemning and ripping apart something you don't like?
Do you even have a clue as to what IDIC means?

I know the OP hasn't got a clue. But you?
LOL

This goes beyond double standards.
Time to take your little monkey brain with the WHT outta here and go spank yourself dry!
