It's hard to avoid spoilers...

Ok, so the sorry fact that STID has already been released in Australia and Germany make it VERY hard not to stumble across spoilers. I have to keep myself from reading reviews and plot elements that are already known.

But here is a question, and I dont consider it a spoiler because  it's from clips and commercials that have been shown already.

Why in the HELL is the Enterprise so damn lame? I dont mean the design, it looks like Enterprise to me. But judging from the last movie and what I have seen of this one, it looks like the Enterprise gets her ass handed to her yet again. I would like to see the Enterprise do some ass kicking and stop cracking apart anytime it's fired upon. Granted, the Romulan ship from the 2009 movie (Narada?) was huge and had a century + of more advanced technology. Now, in this movie, we see this HUGE ship, Federation designed, giving it to the Enterprise and it falls thru the atmosphere and crashes. So, we get an NCC-1701A in the next movie I guess? Already?

The Enterprise is like a character to me. I didn't like it being destroyed in ST3:TSFS, but that Enterprise had been in service for at least 20 years, and it made sense in the context of the story.

Any (non-spoiler) thoughts on this other than just trashing JJ? Remember, he just directs, he doesnt write the screenplay.

i don't have an answer for you but if you look really, really carefully and despite what you have seen on bill boards and in the trailers, it's not enterprise that crashes.

Really? It sure looks like the Enterprise falling down into the atmosphere.

But the fact remains, they have just seemed to put the Enterprise up against far superior foes, and I'm sick of it. Can't we have a good movie based around a cool mission or something? And as much as I didn't mind the reboot, Spock's character is just an asshole. Watch TOS stuff, Kirk was NEVER questioned. And also, I dont mind Simon Pegg, but he is playing Scotty as too carefree and humerous. Like comic relief.

I think Bones is the only one they were spot on with the casting, and he doesn't act as "out of character" as the others.

Having said that, I'm a full supporter of the new Trek. It just takes time to get used to it. It took me 3 years before I cared to watch ST:TNG, and it turned out to be my favorite show of all time.

So, it sounds like you know the plot. Can you private message me and just tell me if The Enterprise is lost in this movie, and nothing else?

Thanks.

Weird. I know you USED to be able to PM people on here. I don't see how, now.

You haven't said too much. I've seen the hands on the glass thing. But that doesn't really tell me if the Enterprise gets destroyed.

Thanks for being careful about spoilers to me. Plus someone else might accidentally read this. So, I guess I'll just have to wait 2 weeks for my answer. Thanks anyway.

Now you have me all curious... maybe it WAS me. 4 years can fly by. Back then, most of my comments were about Star Trek 2009.
