ST:ID has been fully released...right? In Australia? On April 23rd, right? Why? Why all the secrecy and then have it premiere 24 days later here in the USA? Shouldn't it be released HERE first? If it's a bad movie (which I fear) then the internet has 24 of people who already saw the damn thing giving it bad word of mouth. And of course, now that I know that it's been seen my A LOT of people, how am I supposed to keep from hearing or seeing, even accidentally, plot details? What a stupid move! Can anyone explain this?

I had no idea "INTO DARKNESS" was a Star Trek Number 12 (XII)  major movie. The Star Trek management seemed to always tease with a lil hint here and there and stalling around with a 3-4 year gap before the next major movie come out. I'm wondering if this is a full length movie of the past of which I was completely turned off. The old Enterprise 1701D was like it was in the first STAR TREK in the 60s was a disappointment compared with the sleek Enterprise 1701-D of "INSURRECTION" and future oriented.

Um... I have no clue what you are trying to say. You are aware that a motion picture that is a sequel to 2009's reboot/alternate universe "Star Trek" is being released? It's called "Star Trek into Darkness" and it took them 2 years at least to make it and everyone has known about it for years?

Anybody else here care to chime it? It doesn't bother ANYBODY that this film has been released ALREADY in a little place known as AUSTRALIA? And we in the US have to wait like 23 days before WE can see it? To avoid spoilers, I'm going to have to go live under a rock for 3 weeks.

^^^^

dunno man. They said they were going to do this for awhile now so a lot of people were prepared/kinda over that fact. They've even premiered it in Moscow and Paris now.

It's really not that hard to avoid spoilers. I see you've posted in that spolier thread but I'm not going in there...

Well, the last STAR TREK motion picture with Chris Pines wasn't all that, especially "going back in time" with obsolete technology which is a turn-off. I thought STAR TREK sets the standard for futuristic adventures and high-tech stuff. I guess I'm stuck in "GENERATIONS, FIRST CONTACT, INSURRECTION with those ultra sleek designs standing still but going warp at the same time similar to a F-86 Sabre Fighter Jet. Maybe a new bridge crew at the helm because Kirk, Picard, Janeway, Sisko, Archer, Riker, and others are hard trump or replace. I don't know why this strange presentation of STAR TREK "12" normaly with stunning ads leading up to the starting date. Maybe I'm missing something, anybody care to opine?

Um, not sure what you think Into Darkness is or Trek 09 was if it wasn't Star Trek.

I am currently quite confused.

I think there's a small possiblity that people are posting in this thread who don't know much about what they are speaking of.

That said, no it does not upset me that the movie premiered overseas before it premiered here in the US. We've known the US release date for over a year now, so expectations were set a long time ago. We've also known since 2009 that Paramount was going to do everything in its power to get better results in overseas markets. This is obviously part of that strategy. Expectations were set a long time ago for this...so I'm not sure why anyone would be upset.

As far as people not being aware of the movie...I don't know how that is even possible. There have been multiple trailers. TV spots regularly began about 2 weeks ago. The superbowl had a major ad for the film. The season finale of Walking Dead had an extended trailer. Trailers have been available on YouTube and iTunes for months. There was a 9-minute preview slice of the film shown before the IMAX screenings of "The Hobbit" in theaters. There are viral videos / websites and iPhone apps related to the movie. The teaser and theatrical posters are all out. I'm not sure what more Paramount needs to do to get awareness in terms of marketing...but it seems to me they are doing a good job.

Actually, I give people on these boards a lot of credit. 6 days now that "Spoiler" thread has stood there and it's only had as many replies in that many days.

It shows some real integrity that people around here can actually avoid/ignore something... when they try....

Would be a real shame if any fellow members around here, who had been so involved in this site for so long, waiting for these new JJ movies to come out, had to walk into a theater and know everything that was going to happen, after all these years of waiting.....

Instead of just sitting down and enjoying it fresh for the first time.

Block,

I don't even watch the commercials any longer. I'm avoiding spoiler threads like the plague. I don't want to know anything about the movie any longer. I have tickets to the IMAX 3D preview on the 15th, and I just want to be swept away and surprised as much as possible.
