Sigh...the review that I read wasn't as blunt as the one posted on here.  No argument...that ending "sounds"  insanely ridiculous....period.

It'll do that regardless because he's moving on.

Right, after Abrams finish destroying Star Trek he'll do the same for Star Wars, WHAT will he do ? give R2D2 a robot GIRLFRIEND ? 

Let me say this...the film got some very good reviews from it Austrailan premiere....it's got some very good stuff...it's just the da*n ending that mostly all the water cooler discussion will be about....it's a sssssttttttrrrrrreeeeetttttttccccccchhhhhhh.

Otherwise...other than it's ending....with the exception of some minor points...critics I think will like it...but will "The Nation"????

Well coming from the mass movie going audience background myself, I KNOW what it is that people like about all the big pictures, such as The Pirates of the Caribbean and The Lord of the Rings.

Like I might have said before, back in 2010 I was actually tapped to "contribute anonymously" to the "community relations" portion of the "ST12" project. It's almost the whole reason why I've been here. I made sure to watch and identify the most frequent and active posters and then relay back the exact OPPOSITE of what all of you guys were constantly repeating. Keeping in line with "Not your fathers Star Trek".

Everything from not wanting darkness in Trek, to not liking cameos for the fans, and philosophical tales, and Khan. Well here we are now and we've got Into Darkness, Leonard Nimoy again, plus probably others, and all I need to make my life is the inclusion of Khan. I think it's going to happen.

So all of the most frequent posters around here have much to be thanked for. For if not for your continuous and constant involvement on this site, then all the other mass movie going audience fans, such as myself, wouldn't be able to get the kind of movie we like!

It's been very enjoyable browsing the reviews on the Internet about STID...the reviews are very positive and reassuring.  The reviews indicate that this film will be enjoyed by Trekkers and non Trekkers alike.  No reviewer tries to compare old Trek with Abram Trek....because they are different.  However...they do indicate that the 132 minutes spent watching this 2nd Abrams' installment will be very entertaining and enjoyable...and that's more than enough for me.

Yeah...the ending will probably make me wince a little....but I'm sure going to go see and find out.
