Does it bother anyone else that when introduced the station nealy gets destroyed by 3 ships, and would have bee by 1 had been fight to death; but by 5th & 6th seasons is supposed to be able hold off 1/4 of dominion fleet?

I would need to go back & check, but I believe the Cardassians had stripped down the station as they were leaving. Then with the threat of the Dominion forces which would ram a ship just to show that they were willing forced the issue.

No, the Federation started to arm the station very quickly. First thinking they'd be against the Cardassians in Season 1, then against the Klingons, then against the Dominion. By 5 years in, the Federation could make it quite the fortress.

I think the speed of the arming was quite reasonable, if not a bit slow... It may be faulty memory, but I do recall a mention, early in the series, where improving their defences was addressed, but I do agree that a single-line mention of arming up was probably too little of an explanation.

Yep... when Sisko first took command, they didn't have anything except six torpedoes. Once they figured out there was going to be a threat, they had to do a major overhaul on the defenses.

In pratice Deep Space Nine defense likley overly weak ask my option in 5 season. Deep Space Nine important location it should armed must heavist weapon availabe. I mean Deep Space Nine should Quantum torpedos or perhaps even little more powerful combine must heavist phaser banks. That guessing they not build space station design only combat in mind in mouth of the Worn hole.

No-- doesn't bother me at all. The station started off as a half-destroyed outpost that the Cardassians basically gutted before they left. After the retrofits, and with the discovery of the wormhole and increased galactic importance of DS9, the initial discovery of the Dominion threat (They started another retrofit early in third season, although they were still not quite finished by the beginning of fourth season) and later hostility of the Klingons, not to mention the ongoing co-ordinated effort of the engineering team, then of course it would have a greater array of weapons. Makes perfect sense.
