Hey all, well I just completed watching Star Trek for the very first time by watching Nemesis the other night. I first got into the series in December of 2010 when a friend of mine, one who I met online in 2008 and to this day never met in person, bought me the first season of Enterprise. You all know him here as the poster Sora. He's from Alabama and I live in New York. We met and talked for 2 years and built a friendship and to this day are best friends. It's a pretty unique story really, but that will be for another time.

Anyway he had talked about wanting me to eventually see "Star Trek" as he is one of the biggest fans I know. I was reluctant to be honest, I didn't know much about it at all. But from what I had heard I always viewed Trek as dorky or nerdy and just something I wouldn't get into. Well finally in Dec. of 2010 he bought me the first season of Enterprise, so I kind of had no choice in the matter lol. He figured since I was reluctant about Trek in the first place, ENT would be a better place to start with it being more modern and technially the "first" series, at least in the timeline. So I started it and for the first 12 or 13 episodes I was barely even paying attention to it. I was bored silly, I had no interest whatsoever. Then I watched "Shuttlepod One," and that episode was the turning point for me, I really enjoyed it a lot and thought hey this isn't so bad, if there are more episodes as good as this one, I may actually enjoy it lol. by that time Sora had already bought me seasons 2, 3 and 4 so I figured what the hell, I'll contnue.

So I did and needless to say I LOVED ENT, I enjoyed it a whole lot and thought the series was excellent, it made me want to see TOS. Unfortunately I was out of work at the time and didn't have any money. So when December of 2011 rolled around, Sora bought me TOS seasons 1-3 along with TAS. I watched both series and loved them, and then he bought me the first 6 films which I watched and loved. I may as well just say now, over time Sora bought me the entire franchise. Yeah thats how good a friend he is. In May I started TNG season 1 and I absolutely fell in love with it. Now I watch a lot of tv, and Trek kept blowing passed all of my favorite shows to go higher on my list of favorites. I then started DS9 when I Was supposed to date wise, I believe in season 6 of TNG? and with the guidence of Sora was watching two series at once, I did the same when starting Voyager. I just finished Voyager last week and then watched Nemesis on Thursday. It took me 2 years and 3 months but I have finally seen every last bit of it, I watched everything in perfect order and I don't know what to say...this franchie changed my life. It's one of the best things, one of the best pieces of television I've ever seen and I love it so much. I wanna go back in time and kick myself for not wanting to watch it all at first, what an amazing franchise. I loved all 5 series but my favorite is DS9, but I really enjoyed them all.

Anyway I just wanted to share that with all you guys, I'll be posting here more often. I made an account last year but didn't want to come on here much without seeing everything. I'm excited to go see Into Darkness which will be my first trek movie in theaters. Sora also bought me the 09 film which I liked but in my opinion it has nothing on "Classic" Trek. I also just watched "The Captains" documentary last night which I adored. You can say I'm very heavy into Star Trek right now, I can't get enough. And I can't thank Sora enough for introducin me to this wonderful and massive franchise. When he first told me how big Trek was, it sounded so overwhelming and I never thought I would have time to see it all. Well now I wish there was more lol, it doesn't seem like enough! I'll be re-watching ENT shortly as well and I'm sure I'll enjoy it a lot more now that I have a load of other Trek knowledge.

Anyway, hope to make some Trekkie friends here. Talk to you all soon...

Welcome to the Star Trek Family!

Trek Fans are some of the kindest and thoughtful people I have ever interacted with, so reading about Sora's generosity comes as no surprise.  Take care of those DVD's and have fun!

"Star Trek" was the first thing I typed when I first went on the internet way back in '97. I got addicted to the chat rooms for a while (any other geezers remember the chats?) Back then we had DS9 and VOY running. A lot of fun.
