I thought Neelix looked more like a horse or a hyena.
Although he could be aggravating at times, I think he was basically a good person, who tried to be optimistic most of the time.

Neelix not only has he an incredibly stupid make-up design, but he started off with a 2 year old for a girlfriend. This could not have all been creative whimsy. Clearly, this character is referencing ... something, but I do not know what. Maybe it's an "inside," Hollywood joke, some piece of fiction, or silent movie. He is also annoying. The bad outweighs the good with him and it's not JUST that rubber head ...

Also guy in "In the Pale Moonlight" in DS9 looks rather fish-like; think the Cardassians R suppposed to be cobra-like and their spoons and neck ridges are supposed to represent the vistigal signs of the cloak, sort of like a more advanced form of the Snake vs. Dog show in Lonely Among Us .

I'd also add that it was a source of constaint cringing to see his bad 80's sitcom convienent jack of all trades guy, who juz so happens to have had the exact past that they needed for everything come up till they ran out of backstory to fill up and juz then made him a cook, dispite eva since TNG (& confirmed in ENT) they had food replicators processing food waste and organic materials thrown out and food not eaten, and in DS9 and late NTG the replicators cud produce almost anything, and fusion reactions stable about 8,000 years; so no gud reason stop using food replicators

Plus girl only gf but Neelix treat like they married and, like he own her, and no trust her, and he insecure; and like say above only child, and unwilling to let grow up. This positive message? Plus they didn't even explain to captain Y want be on ship when ask come aboard; people make up reason why they did like Asylum, but just rewatched, they no say anything about why they want to, just seem like they do. Who no say I want this cus' ...?

Neelix & Kes were hard to watch. Even picturing him making sweet love to Kes was akin to seeing Fred make out with the Squid Alien in GALAXY QUEST. Just wrong!
And to think that this was introduced DELIBERATELY ... that it was perpetuated ... DELIBERATELY, by this show! Like shooting Voyager in the foot to see if it was still able to run to the top of the ratings! It was bizarre.
And yes, you're right ... it was TOO convenient that Neelix always knew the necessary bits of information Voyager required to get through the Delta Quadrant.

If there ARE alien species out there, I don't know. But, I can tell you this:
They do not look like an imperfect rubber head glued to a geeky Human Being's face!

Buk Lau "you can’t tolerate other species? That is so racist!" I no know about quantum leap bartender, but I under impression he talk about what U call statutory rape; other thing talk about writing of his back story being too convenient so as mean bad writing; wif regard fish appearance, many from animal, cardassian: cobra, Farangi: fish, etcetera acknowledging dif no racist just acknowledging dif, juz like acknowledging cultural dif no cultural intolerance, cultural intolerance mean U pretend all cultures have be same as you, so no acknowledge cultural dis b/c U assume any dfi mean badness rather than accepting those dif.
So please explain how you feel racism, because every person racist because racist only mean not yet discover and expel all cultural unquestioned assumptions, and even wisest of wise like first Dalai Lama and the Buddha never able to expel all unquestioned assumptions- so to change racism one must be specific and list HOW something racist, so people know how to improve; people who just go "you so racist" w/o explanation, no wish to improve world, but under ethnocentric false assumption that own subculture is only or one of few subcultures who not racist, and accuse others of racism as means of attempting to express their ethnocentrism by saying they culture superior to others.
Bad to judge people quickly so Lang no assume what you reason, so hope good reason and say for reason I no fathom, so please fully explain reason.

I loved Neelix. He was one of my favorite characters.
I did not like Kes and thought Neelix and Kess was unusual but not because of the age. Kess was Ocampa so she only lived maybe 9 years. Obviously there is an accelerated growth and maturity. It is very likely she was considered an adult at the tiime she left with Neelix.
As far as intimate relationships I don't believe that was happening with them. As much as we like to assume human sexuality on other species there is no evidence that they were intimate. In fact, the episode where Kess was going through the false changes to conceive they had made a conscience choice to mate but didn't before they realized it was something else causing it.
We can't assume that just because a species is humanoid they are like humans. Every series try to show this to its audience but we still keep applying our own assumptions on these people. Granted they are all make believe and not real anyway...I still like to save judgement on things I can't possibly know.
