For $1,000,000 I would go in my garage, turn on my table saw and chop off my left hand.  Without a second thought.  To not ever have to work again, that freedom is worth a hand.  So if there are any millionaires out there who want a trophy hand to display to their friends, feel free to contact me anytime.

Retire on a million dollars? Do the math. if a person is say 50yo, like me, and lets say they have another 40 years to go, that million breaks down to only $25,000 per year. That's barely a livable income now, let alone 10 or 20 years from now. And if you factor in any medical expenses from pulling a bone-head move, such as chopping ones hand off, and your up shits creek, son, and it wouldn't matter if you had a paddle 'cause you only got one hand!

You didn't do all the math.  First I'm almost 60, so I won't last as long.  Most people don't make it to 90.  After 62 your income will be supplemented by social security and medicaid for the medical expenses.  My house is payed for.  And most of all, you assume the million is earning no interest during the time you have it.  While not allowing you to live like the rich, it would be considerably more than the 25,000 you came up with.

still would need alot more before I would even consider dismemberment. For a mere 1mil I MIGHT teabag Justin Bieber.....
