Yes, the time change thing is basically cheating and I think I even remember that being openly acknowledged in a Star Trek movie just before it nevertheless became a major part its plot.

Really? Transporter Fail has the most votes?! So you get your atoms get scattered through space....It'd only take a few seconds, a minute at most and I don't imagine it'd be painful. and at least THAT'S kinda cool. dying because of Alien Parasites would be a lot slower, quite likely painful, and there must be a million people who died that way. who wants to die a common death?

Borg Assimilation. But that's technially not death, I guess. The TOS Salt monster and the mirror unierse agony booth (those could kill people right? I don't recall) would be pretty bad too.
