What is an appropriate age for kids to start watching TNG?

I started watching TNG at a very young age, maybe a couple years older than your kids now. Outside of scattered damns and hells, and the occasional espisode with a bit of violence or "fade to black" it's pretty much G rated. I actually think it's more "kid friendly" than TOS, which was almost always full of violence and managed to sneak in lots of sensuality despite the censors of the day. I think the big issue is whether or not they'd be bored by TNG or be able to follow certain episodes.
