Ah, the ever popular kill-the-character-and-bring-him-back-to-life move.
They did it to Kirk, Spock, Data, and Scotty, so why not Trip?

He was already brought back to life in the relaunch novels. Turns out he was never really dead. Just faked his death to go work for Section 31.

I like it. This is one of those back from the dead ideas i would be behind. I am not a fan of the final episode. I would have been ok with them killing trip but not in a flashback in a pointless storyline. I always felt it came off like a cheap emotional grab than the consequence of a good story. I mean Spock went out right. If they had not brought him back, at least you could say his death was pretty epic. Not so in the final episode. as far as bringing him back you could just pull a whole other trip out of an alternate dimension. may not be the same trip but oh well. you could grab his sister while you were at it too!

Data and Kirk were not brought back to life.

In Generations, when people first saw it, there was no way to know that Kirk hadn't died from that bolt of energy, nor did anyone have any idea how he'd be brought back later to encounter Picard...so they kind of did, only within the confines of the same movie.

That's basically what I meant. As for Data, it was hinted his memory was coming back through B4, with him singing at the end.

Well I'm fairly sure some novels bring Kirk back to life with nanites or something?
Also the "echo" Kirk is still in the Nexus roaming around. It cant leave cause its not really him but you never know what future writers could think of?

Novels arent canon.......but it was done in the novels that Shatner wrote as you mentioned.
And you are assuming that Kirk has an "echo" in the Nexus.Theres no reason to assume such a thing.
Remember Kirk walked out the Nexus of his free will.
Guian was "wripped" out by a transporter beam. She didnt want to leave.

Sorry, but I doubt very much that any one watching the film thought Kirk was really dead that easrly in the film.
And based on every single trailer for the film that I remember, and the posters, again I'm certin everyone that wanted to see this film knew for a fact that Kirk would be back to encounter Picard.

Hey everybody! I haven't been on this forum in years, seems like it's changed A LOT.
Anyways, I recently have been writing a story about this, because I'm not just gonna accept the fact that my favorite character's dead! It involves time travel and another ST show, and I'm hoping it turns out well. Charles Tucker III will not die!!!!!!!!

I'd rather they just reveal he didn't really die over resurrecting him.
