A new Star Trek TV Series

I think we could see another Star Trek TV series because there are new sci-fi shows on television all the time. Secondly, it already has a large fanbase.

That said, with the failure of Nemesis and Enterprise, they are going to test the waters a lot and make sure the time is right before they try it again. And I think that's why there seems to be an effort recently to grow the base.

Like the Abrams movies or not, so far they have generated new interest. I certainly wouldn't think they've turned off anybody who was already a Star Trek fan, to Star Trek all together. Also the video game will help. The special showing of "The Best of Both Worlds" is a sign that there is good base for Star Trek in 2013. I wouldn't be surprised to see a new Star Trek series on the air before the last part of the Abrams trilogy hits theaters. I would suspect that Abbrams is going to have to deliver again with this next movie, though.

As far as what I would like to see, I would not like to see a reboot of characters of past series in the a situation we've already seen them in. Preferably, I want new characters in a new setting, with the original Star Trek history, not the Abrams alternate universe.

Just reflecting on Ent: If they do a new Trek series, maybe it should be based on some aspect that nobody knows anything about. That way every episode reveals something new, and it will appeal to trekkies and non-trekkies alike.

I really really hope there is one, and that it isn't too stylised or throws out the rulebook with an alternate timeline. Basically I want it to be proper, intelligent, story led Star Trek that continues the legacy TOS and the TNG shows left behind. I hope the same thing happens to Star Trek as has happened to Doctor Who

What I'd like in a new series is to take the next gen thing to a whole mother level set maybe 500 to 1000 years after next gen...
Exotic technologies-
Almost god like-
Most of the milky way explored/colonized
Intergalactic travel-
Cross species intermingled/bred crew/ federation
Bio organic ships

Star Trek:Intergalactic
Or
Star Trek:Universal?

How about they finish Enterprise before they set off on any new adventures with a new show.

>This new series which is being shown in the UK, I find does nothing for me, all the characters are weak, the story lines are to, and the sets are nothing compared to the Gene Rodenberry productions, in truth they are an insult to the original Star Trek series and should have never been made.

There is no "new series" at the moment. Which one is it that you're watching?

I'd rather have characters and technologies we can relate to.

Can you do a important short for mankind?
I have a great idea for an episode: Data/Spock says "I have been analysing Instinct program operations in all life forms including species human being. You are currently unaware that Instinct program is a super advanced Artificial Intelligence program and because of its far advanced nature all probablity indicates Supreme Being designing it for all lifeforms.A.I.is hiding its existance from lifeforms for security reasons. Would you let your 4 yr old drive the car? This is information from the Supreme Being to us.

For some reason the "qoute" function is inoperative Captain!

In response to Mitchz95's comment on mine
"I'd rather have characters and technologies we can relate to"
I understand what you mean but...consider when TOS first started
Warp Drive/FTL interstellar travel, transport/teleportation, phasers/ photon torpedoes, Vulcans, Klingons etc
Mind melds etc etc and later replicators that convert energy to matter!
All these where exotic technologies, almost godlike, strange alien races.
This was all exciting and new but we could still relate to the characters
It was the sense of exploration "to bodly go where no man/one has gone before"
that made it exciting.
I think Star Trek has lost that new exciting part it has become "to bodly go where pretty much everyone has been before"
That's why I suggest other Galaxys, new species and cross breeds and new technologies.

An idea for why they would travel to other Galaxys would be to find out if the intelligent races there where also all mostly humanoid/bipedal and so alike that races separated by lightyears of interstellar space can interbreed. Try to find out why...is there a supreme being? A god a creator? Or has some ancient original race of humanoids seeded the entire universe?

Gawd, please, no! Star Trek doesn't need a movie centering on the red-faced and bloated Captain Riker - the guy looks like he lives on a diet of bourbon and beans! "ST: Nemesis" killed the movie franchise just as "Enterprise" wiped-out Trek on television. Learn from the past, don't repeat it.

there is talk that one of the producers of the original series is trying to make a new series, star trek federation, wich is in the 31st century, and has the federation in a decline, with no major scientific, or technological  in hundreds of years, in need of a new captain, to lead them, and ow everyone that there use is still worth fighting for.          it is said that he already has a seven year contract

I've heard of Federation, but I didn't know they were still discussing it. Do you have a link to this new information?

I think Enterprise was our best hope for continuing the series but they blew it. Fans were looking forward to a pre-TOS era of exploration but got the same ol' time paradox nonsense. Time travel and renegade holograms (TNG) are just lazy writing.

If they could make a series that stuck to hard scifi and action, rather than fantasy, it would probably have a strong following. I agree with others who say it would be best if produced by someone who enjoys and understands Trek, rather than simply using the name.

We have had a new ST television series for every decade since the 60's. The 60's had Star Trek, 70's Animated Series, 80's Next Generation, 90's DS9andVoyager, 00's Enterprise. So shouldn't the 10's have something. I for one wouldn't mind seeing a JJ Abrams alternate timeline Next Generation series. Or perhaps an Enterprise NCC 1701-J series since we have ST:ENT to thank for getting us curious about it.
