Has anyone ever wondered why the borg never attacked ds9, and try to assimulate the cassidian empire?

That's because in DS9-cannon the Borg only appeared into "The Emisarry" though.
I'd say the Cardassians were truly right for assimilation, even as the Klingons did a good job. What was perfectly handeld by the Dominion.

Not particularly. The show had plenty of other great villains and was fine without a Borg episode.

I am also glad they didn't go the Borg route. The Borg were best used sparingly sort of like Q. Too much of these super powerful bad guys and they start to just become typical baddies of the week. They lose their ominous factor. Case in Point: see Voyager for these two. Janeway defeats both the Borg and the Q which is one of my beiggest peeves with an otherwise decent show.

The Defiant was shown attacking that Borg Cube at the beginning of "Star Trek:First Contact", so I guess that counts. lol

The poor Bajorans had just been freed from the Cardassian occupation, then the Dominion War came along. Having the Borg assimilate them would have been too much to bear!

Although. a BORG episode on DS9 could be cool, as they are not on a ship. They are in confined space. So it could have a good claustrophobic feel to it. Plus, the borg were responsiblefor the death of Jennifer Sisko (Sisko's wife)- so he would have an extreme and utter hatred for the borg. Bit like Picard in First Contact. They could have two parter cliffhanger bridging two seasons.
Although, it would not be a very DS9 sort of epsiode.
It could have made the borg scary again though.
I'm talking to you VOY

"Who am I to argue with the captain of the Enterprise?"- Kirk to Picard. 2371.

The Borg were made out to be the most evil/powerful force ever on TNG, and then Voyager contradicted that.
They were still a cool villan to show a lot though. Certainly better than the annoying Kazon race from the early episodes.

Because the writers thought the borg were wildly overrated.
And they were right.

Borg was somewhat overrated I think that the idea was bigger than what special effects could do so it was hard to transfer into evil dark race that they should have been. If they were introduced today they would b much better.
