When will we get a new Star Trek TV show? I really think it would be great if they made a show about starfleet academy there are so many possibilities. What would you like to see?

Bryan Singer & Michael Dorn have both separately pitched shows to Paramount recently.  I don't know what became of Singer's pitch but Dorn's is apparently still alive.  There has been talk in the past (around Enterprise's end and the ramping up of the new movie series) that execs at Paramount didn't want to "water down the brand" or "confuse audiences."  Yeah right, like you're going to water down a brand that's had 6 TV series and soon to be 12 movies and millions of devout, multi-generational fans across the globe who are known for being the opposite of stupid.  They think having a successful movie franchise concurrent with 3 successful series in the 80s and 90s watered down the brand?  Making Insurrection and Nemesis back to back while making a "good in premise, bad in execution" TV series (Enterprise) stalled the franchise.  Make a good show and good movies and people will watch them.

I personally like the "Captain Worf" idea.  I miss the 24th Century group of series and I'd like to see that era explored more in a new ongoing series or series of TV movies.  It's not realistic to get the TNG ast back together, especially since Stewart's movie career wouldn't allow it.  A Captain Worf series would open the door for guest stars or cast members from TNG, DS9 and Voyager plus a new generation of new characters: the, ahem, best of both worlds.  If this ever happens, I nominate Wesley Crusher as First Officer.  Wil Wheaton deserved to play a well-written, adult version of a character that wasn't served well the first time around.

What you're getting at? If you can't be on the topic of a possible new Star Trek series, write nothing at all.

I still don't understand why a USS Titan series was not considered. It would already have some existing built in fanbase. It seemed like a good idea.

anyone know why that didnt happen?

I like the idea of a show about Starfleet Academy too.  I think that would be both unique and awesome!  It would be cool if they would introduce a different ship other than Enterprise though.

Also, it would be quite awesome if they would introduce some new aliens rather than the same old ones all the time.  I wonder why Star Trek never had any episodes with the grey aliens that are quite common for other shows.  I suppose that perhaps it is just because it has already been overdone with so many other Sci-Fi television shows and movies.

an academy series would be a bad idea. it would be like a kiddie version of ST. and where would it take place? only in san fransisco? that would be boring. capt.worf idea is bad too. unless he´s capt. of a klingon ship as a member of the klingon military. thats been the direction that char has been going in, is meant to have gone in and should go in. it was dumb when gowron disgraced the house of mog all over again in ds9.

what ST needs in a series that has a continuing storyline, where every episode has bearing on the next. like all the good shows on tv right now and recently like breaking bad, hell on wheels, being human, walking dead, dexter, sons of anarchy, lost, 24, etc. no more holodecks no more alone on desert planets, no more "side trek". each episode must develope the story. some characters will have to die or get transfered to other ships. we need to have a reason to not know exactly whats going to happen. this allows for the feeling of risk to be higher because even though they´re a regular cast member, they can still die. that keeps us on edge more. the needs to find out what happens next is why many people watch certain shows regularly. lets face it, audiences have become more sophistocated over the past 10 years, since one can catch up on a few missed episodes via the internet or can buy an entire season on dvd. the days of show starting and ending at the same place and not advancing are over.

other than that, it might be cool if they did do a compilation crew finaily allowing us to see riker as a captain(i wanted picard to die so much so this would happen). maybe nog as engi, the doctor"joe", garak, data2.0, ensign Ro. i also thought it´s about time we get a romulan crew member, vulcans are starting to get boring and it´s a nessesary part of the ST formula to have a super smart guy(spock, data, bashir, the doctor,7of9,t´pol).romulans are the next logical choice.

oh and fyi, just because a character is played by a good looking actor doesnt mean they´re only there to be eye candy. 7of9 was ok and so was t´pol, yea, 7 could have had a looser outfit and t´pol didnt have to do all the nude scenes but i think the nerds felt patroniozed by having to look at women who in real life would/could be out of their leagues. just because someone is good looking doesnt mean their dumb. ppl can be smart and good looking.

I do not KNOW why they didn't, BUT ...

The back-to-back failures of INSURRECTION
and NEMESIS were not encouraging to CBS or
PARAMOUNT, whichever, to put out more TNG
product - even a series based on the TITAN.

Personally, I blame the failure on Berman's
very poor decision to blow up ENTERPRISE D!

Really? That was the most epic art of the movie!

Starfleet Academy would make a well-rounded Series , or USS Titan has a large fanbase already . I am still waiting for the USS Excelsior Series with Captain Sulu . But I wouldn't hold our breaths though !

Bryan Singer is too busy with other movie projects , which include X-Men Days of Future Past , and the H+ Series which is one of the best futuristic thrillers made for Tv in awhile !

Michael Dorn is an exceptional Actor , but knows very little about directorial or producer work .  He was a standout in star trek , and a lot of fans yearn to see him back in that or another role again ! Maybe he could produce and direct a Star Trek Web Series ?!

Ah , the well-known trekkie contempt for Will Wheaton . I am in the camp of pro Wesley Crusher Fans . I think he is a good actor and could do something in a future Star Trek Series . It would be a Joy to know the anti-Wheaton fans would be grinding their teeth !!

So here's my idea:

The first ep is like this:

Captain and admiral ar talking about another pirate raid on a shipment of some valueble commodity, the admirals says they need to infiltrate their group then they contact the security department there a general is thinking of his friend's son and he takes a transport to a prison colony where "the son"(main character) is a guard, they are glad to see each other it's been years they are on table talking about (family, stories about something, jokes...) and the general offers him a job he says he'll set him up,the main charecter agrees and so it all starts... He's "fired"(staged but real) from the prison colony ,he then goes to a planet where is he's old friend from the army (a pirate)they meet they do again lots of talking(family, stories about something, jokes...) again our main character is cursing that he's without job his army buddy offers him a job and is sending him to an aprtment(crappy but secure) the main is staying there while his fiend checks his story, it checks out he brings him a gun(normal pistol with some futuristic bullets) and identification documents(fakes but passing all checks) and is sending him to kill another criminal the two are going and our main character kills the target an so he's in but still not very trusted the time passes by he's assaign another hit this time he'll be leading a crew of 4 to rob a bank they do it but the main is forced to kill  one guard(human) to "save" one of his followers(alien) that get's him little more trust, after that they rest for a week or so and the main is "ordered" to kill some alien criminal who at odds with "our" gang and so he kills him and is already in trusted now...

We skip a year and we see 3 space ships two of them (pirates) undetectable (not cloak) and one transport(the targeted ship) then the camera gives a insid of a ship and we se the main character with four other(2 humans 2 aliens) ready to transport they give a signal via radiostation and the ship is getting ready to fire (effects shwing the weapons, four on the front of the ships big pulse weapons setup like bm-grad firing pulses not missles)  the two ships taking attach possition and firing on the transport... Then the main character and his crew(the four) beam on to the transport ship where our main character is forced to kill again but this time atleast it's alien (guard) to save this time a human from he's crew(he dont hesitate after all it's been a year they have become friends, saving each other and so on)they mark the cargo and beam it out and escape the transport ship then they go to (some sort of warp or something) afther exit from it a ship decloack destroying one of the pirate ship and disabling the one with our guy then basicly the swat guys beam in shooting the main character(fake) and arresting the others... The main quit his "new" job aftter all betraing them is hurting for him too he manages to get back on cosmic fleet duty with his former rank of captain 1st rank send to serve on galactic destroyer(big ship not very flat with 2000 pulses(like the ones above) 2500 missle and space torpedos, mines and so on(launchers), 500 lasers(big tubes from witch a red laser is fired that burns mountains like paper) and two galactic bombs(capable of destoying solar system basicly artifficial supernova) the ship has a crew of 3400(all humans no aliens allowed on Earth ship(it's a taboo to have aliens on earth ship) the ships in on the far side of Earth controlled space... Only two outpost close to where the ships is one is trading station(5km) and a planetary outpost(a planet and a space station of 50 km in orbit with spacedocks shipyards and defence systems)...

and so the first ep is over that's just for starter where do the show go from now on...

I always thought a Starfleet Academy Series made sense and with Dorn/Worf as the lead. So many ways you could go in the story, young cadets, older members of the star trek world (read cameos from past stars) coming in to teach or cross paths. Training ship story lines. Man I would be so jacked if they ever did that!

I doubt the academy idea would really work out as most of the danger would be simulated.  I say most as there are accidents in training.  Also, Trek relies heavily on formula & maintaining the status quo in regard to its characters, which would basically make it like Head of the Class.  (How many years did those geniuses remain in high school?  It was more than 4.) If they wanted to do something with a training vessel that somehow keeps getting into real trouble, and would rotate through groups of cadets each season while maintaining a long term crew of main cast, then that might work... maybe.

As for the Captain Worf idea, why?  Why give the guy who has been in the main cast through 11 seasons of ST, but still feels his character wasn't really developed the lead role so that his character with divided loyalties can repeatedly screw with the first officer's aspirations of eventually getting the big chair by leaving his StarFleet post yet again to go act Klingon, get bored & come back to StarFleet and resume his post as if he never left it... again... and again... and again?  Yeah, let's just turn it around and have some Bizarro Trek in which the captain always rejects the suggestion to not shoot first and ask questions later in favor of preemptive strikes every time an unknown comes within weapons range.

What he said, except for the ENT reference.
