To keep the every exiciting discoveries about Mars front and center I am opening this thread. Here we can post links to the most recent news for Curiosity as well as other unmanned missions to Mars.

What is being discovered on Mars is beginning to get very exicting. Just wait until Curiosity begins to drill.

That reminds me on the Shoemaker meteoroid from whoem samples of algy were originated. It was either a Mars piece found on Earth by the scientist which gave it his name for the many he found also.

That is really cool!  Thanks for starting this site.  Mars is still a mysterious place--especially as we learn more about it!

I think what Curiousity will find is that under the surface of the Martian soil there are microbes that will tell the history of Mars being a lush and fertile planet at one time with trees and lakes.

The life that would have existed on Mars could also be buried deep within the soil of Mars just like the dinosaur bones that are discovered deep within the soil of Earth.

What a find that would be.

If Mars once supported life...what happened to it? Why is it now a barren rock?

I read that a near-miss asteroid or meteor swept away much of Mars' atmosphere, which could also have sucked the Matians and much of their artifacts--plus water?--into space.  Wouldn't that have been horrendous, if correct?

That would have been horrible!

Hmm...if they were advanced enough, they could have hidden artifacts somewhere - maybe underneath the surface. How awesome would it be if Curiosity found that?

The asteroid would have been more horrible to experience than being hit by the roid itself.

Imagine thousands of Borg Cubes passing by the planet and turning on their cutting beams all at once tearing everything from the surface.

But then again such a roid would have had to have been huge five times the size of the sun to posses enough gravity to tear the atmosphere away from Mars.

Another idea could be that a microblackhole opened near Mars and consumed and atmosphere possibly even creating the asteroid belt between Mars and the outer planets.

Basically the micro black hole would have stripped the rock layers from Mars away and in the process the microblack hole collapses thus allowing the gravity of the sun to direct the roids into the orbit they are in today.

There have several reports that such things, with underground facilities accessed psychically.

Very awesome indeed Miklamar. Just as awesome as Curiosity finding fossilized bones of ancient Martian beasts deep under the surface just like they have been found here on Earth.
