class="MsoNormal">leroybrock and as I understand "trolling" it is posting an inflammatory remark that is a two edged sword so whatever someone says it can be attacked, and then use that opportunity to attack them; it does not apply to someone being stalked like i am by her, and it  has been expanded to almost any time anyone disagrees with someone about anything; well, the first is clearly just someone with poor social skills trying to get some attention or take out frustrations, and can be sympathized with and fully understood, and once being so understood can be handled the same way one would deal with a child, and name calling that person would only make that situation worse, rather than trying to fix it, so the use of the word troll in that case would be far worse than the initial action, which is very common offline and there have been offline remedies for it for centuries, and none of them included name calling that person; and the second is actually initially the fault of the person who is about to resort to name-calling re. troll b/c one should be willing to get into conversations with people one doesn't necessarily always agree w/ & online with dif regions, countries, languages, religions, etc. and the further difficulty of talking without body language (no doubt why they invented smilies  ) disagreements should be assumed as the norm, and not for someone to go into conniption fits whenever they happen.

class="MsoNormal">And as stated above, both no apply to the person being stalked when someone is jumping from one convo to the next quoting things from other threads

You've been posting an extremely high amount all over most of the forums. This is not intrinsically bad but you now claim that the people who literally cannot avoid you while you post inflammatory and combative things all over the place are stalking you. You're just flattering yourself with the claims that you're being stalked.

leroybrock  I have just noticed that if I leave a convo that both of you start the same convo somewhere else, often within minutes of my having posted there, and even if the convo wasn't about that issue at all, and even if there where 20 people before my post and none of them were either of you. But always talking directly about me, and not about the greater subject, and then seem to try to get the convo to change from what it was to about me.

If someone lives in a city of 50,000; with lets say 10,000 there on any day; and when not in his house (or he’s not the initiator of the initial post) he has 6 people talking directly to him on other’s posts 4 good and 2 bad; and the 2 bad comprise 90% of those direct encounters; there's something wrong there.

And I must have counted 50 people today who posted without paying any attention to my posts when posting right after me, ye tyou two carry it over from forum to forum, and never once saying anything nice, always only insults.

People are sometimes quick to respond because the forum has a feature that sends them a notice when a new post has been made in a forum.

Of course now it appears that you may be playing a long game. Piles of new posts, many sprinkled with offense and inflamatory rhetoric and then backing off the inappropriate ethnocentric baiting while now playing the hounded victim.

Good show young man.

People are not obligated to respond to you just because they post after you.  This was a good thread that had been going on for months before you arrived yet somehow you have made it all about you.  Can we get back to talking about star trek now?

Sora is right...I have to say after watching Trek for pretty much my whole life, (I've seen every single movie on it's opening night release, the ONLY franchise I can say that about). I have to say when I first saw Abrahm's version, I left the theatre on a sour note, grumbling about this & that. So I watched it a couple more times and realized that other than those damn annoying camera flares & the Spock/Uhura creepiness, it was actually not bad. I didn't love it--still don't--but I can see how the change is meant to appeal to a broader audience and bring in new fans (the former not always a good thing, the latter, well, the more the merrier)

I loved Enterprise & felt the dark tone it had was brilliant. I was really pissed when it didn't get to run it's course and have been jonsing for some new tv Trek ever since. If these movies are what it takes to bring it back, then so be it. And I think a chilly reception & massive amounts of bickering would make any network run far, far away from investing in anything to do with the name Trek.

I hope Into Darkness does well also...

I disagree that Abrams is trying to destroy Star Trek.  He just wanted to give it a reboot for a younger audience and some new blood.

Now I have to go back and remind myself what Sora said... hehehe

I will say that, although I still do like the JJ Abrams version, I still prefer a more even-keeled representation of the Star Trek universe. (Cameras without a three second attention span, that sort of thing...)

I just hope people realize that Abrams isn't trying to "ruin" anything. He is trying to make a movie for fans of movies, not just Star Trek fans. Its intention, to broaden the audience, I think works better than most realize. Star Trek needed new life.

I seriously encourage fans to read Nicholos Meyers book "On the Bridge" and his description of how he got in to Star Trek, and realize that his familiarity with Star Trek is about the same as Abrams.

I really wished that they would have kept the weapons as beams instead of shots. I have no idea what might have gone into this decision and know that it's just preference but I found the move to "bolts" in DS9 disappointing. I wish that beam weapons would return as the weapon style.

Curious. The nature of gunshots in Star Trek wasn't one I thought anybody would have a problem with!

I kind of prefer the lightening bolts to laser beams as far as weapon FX goes.

>LEROYBROCK I really like your post. I personally have lived in multiple countries all my life and i have 2 first languages. And honestly i have never encountered such racism and hate as i have in the u.s. and your absolutely right about other people hating the u.s. in general. Most black people here think they are rappers, pimps, basketball players, hung, and over all superior to other races. Most latin americans, chicanos, think that their aztec warriors, machos, cool speaking spanglish, and over all hard core. Most white people think that are entitled to everything, better then most other races, and honestly i have seen a wide variety of racists and narrow mindedness from them. In other countries people are different. Blacks are normal wounderful people, and most dont even like rap, and i never EVER hear the 'n' word. Latins from mexico are the best most caring people you will ever enounter, ever. And whites from england, Australia, and other parts of europe are descent, educated, and down to earth people. The color of peoples skin is not important only whats inside matteres. All countries, and all races have good and bad people. But i have never seen a country like the united states when it comes to negativity. The government knows it too. Have you ever noticed this? the media only shows the negative news from other counties. seriously. they talk about negative news from here then something nice then something negative about mexico for example. more brutal murders from drug trafficers, etc. they never show the good stuff. EVER. then Americans get scared and stay home in their comfort zone of negativity. i believe one of the reasons why people dont like americans is because racist people give other people bad names, and contribute to general narrowed mindedness. for example. if a asian comes to they u.s. to see the great wonderful country where the best movies and music come from and meets a typical overweight, narrowed minded, undereducated, and overopionated white guy who is generally rude and stuck in his/her own little world, then meets a black guy who cant stop saying the 'n' word and talking like hes the man. then runs into a chicano who has ridiculous tattoos, and speeks to him with a accent like english is his second language with a macho air about him.( when in reality they BARLEY speek broken spanish) and THEN runs into a asain american who acts almost as dumb as the other people he met. What do you think his opnion will be of this country and its people? did you know that alot of European country's use America as a example of what not to do? its sad but true. i do believe this country could change though. it would take a drastic measure though. First eliminate child support from here on out. Women would think twice about who they slept with knowing that if they get pregnant by the wrong guy they would be up poop creak without a paddle. this would effect many things, teen pregnancys will drop, condom sales would go up, stds down, devorces down, people would gradually go back to the old days where you dated a girl and took it slow getting to know the person first and actually thinking first. it will reduce the entitlementthe that everyone thinks they get and teach them to think more. second i think they should legalize marijuana for personal consumption. i personally dont smoke but i have in the past. this alone would lower crime in general, lower racisim, and some narrow mindedness. Think about it. its safer then alcohol. if you were to high you wouldnt go out acting like a fool tring to drive fast or show off. you would be stuck on the couch. you would come down in a hour or so they go about your day. you cant o.d. on weed, you can on alchol. it makes you happy and positive and think alot. People would start realizing what jerks they have been and how stupied they were acting and DO something posive about it. not go onto bords where people share ideas and opnions about things and over criticize people by belittleing their opnions and trying to show them why their belief system is supior to the ones they criticise. you know, like lang-haoleeyo. which honestly ruines the whole experience for others. and little by little the u.s. would become a more positive place and eventually be a role model for other countries and humanity would then start taking baby steps in the direction of humanity uniting itself as a species and working to better itself and boldly go where no man has gone before. :-) p.s. whats your opinion on the idea i had on my first post? I think it could be pulled off with the right planning.

Bolts are not that bad. I will say that i also prefer the beams. One thing i would have liked to see with the beams though is one moving. You would think that if you fired a phaser, while firing you could sweep the phaser to the left or right creating a line of damage instead of one peticular spot.

I liked the Dominion weapons, so the new weapons didn't really bother me. It kind of reminded me of the Reliant's phasers as well.

One thing I think would have been a nice touch would be the Kelvin to have laser pistols

Am I the only one who sees the blatant sexism? Think about it, in the reboot all of the main female characters were introduced half naked. They didn't even tell Spock's or Kirk's mother's names in the reboot even though they had prominent roles. Instead it was just '____'s wife/_____'s mother'. It bugs me. A lot.
