With the character presented by Benedict Cumberbatch being not as pretty far predicted Kahn indeed, the question which remains is: is he some sort of a superhuman or a (super-) alien?

The only evidence is that he has superpowers to heal, & more?

I guess on the other way around the sequel would be the reason why the PD excists.

Seeing that they were reportedly considering latino actors up until they landed on Cumberbatch, my best guess is that the original intention was to use Khan, and they have now swapped the character to another Botany Bay passenger.

What makes John a terrorist with dangerous abilleties is the reason why he led massive destruction behind him. He's "a weapon of mass destruction".

There was only one race in the original Trek that could heal that I could think of.  Gem, the Empath.  Kirk and Spock helped save her people, at the cost of another race of people who were never revealed.  If that other race also had healing powers and there was a lone survivor, he'd be pretty pissed at the Federation.

wow..  strikes me tho, looking back at all the villains-

the cost to others for their way or purposes to be fullfilled is always so high, interesting to think the things you all mention and what the cost of this villain's impact will be...

its still hard on me reconciling this "time line" or "reality" or "alternate" whatever its may be in my mind as an original fan and as a fan of the timeline thats unfolded...

"Dismissed, its a Federation term for "get out".

That was my thinking as well.

Every time anyone involved is asked about Khan they just say watch the movie. So basically Harrison may not be Khan but I'm now fully expecting to see something about Khan if not the character in this movie.
