Wow, that's pretty much the same as me. Except Scotty instead of Geordi. As much as I liked him, I liked Scotty better.

I couldn't decide between Harry Kim and O'Brien. Both Were great operations officers.

How can you pick Harry Kim or O'Brien over Mr. Data as an Operations Officer? Kim was a chuckle-head, and O'Brien's position was more like a Chief Engineer given the nature of his duties on DS9.

I agree that Data was an excellent operations officer; better than Kim. But Mr. O'Brein had the experience of being transporter chief on the Enterprise-D as well as chief of operations on Deep Space Nine, which was a Cardassian facility making the job all the more difficult. He also had the experience of serving as the Defiant's chief engineer. For these reasons I feel that Mr. O'Brein would make a better operations officer.

I'm not a big Mr. Data fan...in fact I like Miles O'Brien as a character MUCH better.
But, an objective view of this would dictate that Data is a far more capable and "talented" officer than Miles O'Brien.

I agree with you that Data is no doubt a more "talented" officer, but Mr. O'Brien is a more diversified officer in his areas of expertice.

I would actually put Data back to the original concept and make him the science officer (which he was in practice even if not in title), which would free up operations for O'Brien or Kim. As pointed out, O'Brien's duties were much more focused on engineering while he was on DS9 so making him chief engineer would be good, but we also know form TNG that O'Brien was also a brilliant tactician. Of course, with Riker on the bridge, O'Brien would be freed up to do the engineering.
