>Guys, seriously, let's not do this all over again, ok? Let's not wallow around like a bunch of bitter contemptable nerds angsting over every single statement that JJ Abrams is going to make over the next 5 months, looking for every opportunity to pick it apart and translate it (most of the time completely out of context) into something insulting, disrespectful or blasphemous.

>And, if you're going to do that, then you better be ready to say the same about Nicholas Meyer, who outright admits in several cases (From The Bridge, his own autobiography and Star Trek Movie Memories by Shatner) that he never watched Star Trek, didn't like Star Trek very much, and quite frankly didn't care what anyone thought about what it SHOULD be (including Gene or the fans) because he was going to make HIS movies.

>Some of you put so much effort into being miserable that you've forgotten how to have fun and enjoy anything

>It's director speak. It's generic, meaningless talk that every filmmaker needs to engage in. It's no different than a Bill Belichick press conference after a Patriots game...a bunch of useless canned stuff to feed to the media. Relax. Please.

>Why people would want to get so spun up and force home-made misery on themselves is beyond me.

>I honestly hope (and wish) that you folks who are SO bent out of shape about the movie franchise would just step away. Don't go see it. Don't go see it at all. Why add to your misery? You know you're going to hate every minute of it. Even if it's enjoyable...you'll FORCE yourself to hate it. Why not cut yourself some slack? Go glow-bowling instead or something.

>I mean it...seriously.

>

AMEN!!!! You are absolutely right! So many Trek fans are miserable all the time trying to pick everything apart.

Well i think he did good on the 2009 movie but he does not appear to be with the ST fans. He is more of a Star Wars fan and what i have read he is going to do the SW movies and may not be involved in the next ST movie. That may be a good or bad. guess we will see.

as for the comment he made, you can look at it anyway you like. He is taking ST to a new world and its interesting to have something different, as long as it doesnt get out of hand.

>"Director J.J. Abrams - who doesn't exactly make small movies - said the "Star Trek" sequel is his biggest project yet.

id="yui_3_5_1_23_1355364825770_293">"This movie is infinitely bigger than anything I've done before," he explained. "The challenge was making it feel real and believable and this is a huge action adventure, but nobody cares about a spaceship flying through space unless you love the characters on the ship. We had to make sure you had grounded, believable characters.""

>Is he an idiot or what? Star Trek HAD well developed, grounded and believable characters, until he got ahold of them!

You have opinions that are wildly divorced from reality. That's so sweet.

Greetings!

So as not to duplicate a previous post of mine, let me simply say here that there are at least two errors in the 2009 film that concern me greatly, and I've created a website that I'm trying to get Mr. Abrams to read, so he doesn't reproduce these errors in Into Darkness:

www.OpenLetterToJJAbrams.net

I urge all concerned Trek fans to visit and carefully read through this one-page website.

For a better introductory explanation, please see my previous post under Boards --> Movies --> The destruction of Star Trek as we knew and loved it, page 4.

Warm Regards,

vincent

I love Star Trek, and have for my entire life. It's been a tremendous influence on me, my values, and my personality.

That said, there is NOTHING that would make me want to log in and read about things you found to be "errors that were greatly upsetting." Absolutely nothing.

It's fiction. There are no errors. It doesn't matter. You are either entertained by it, or you are not.

I'm with Vger on this. Trek fans really need to take a step back and just breathe. I mean yes from time to time there are some continuity errors, however many other tv series and movies also make continuity errors, it happens. I realize that as fans we need Star Trek to be perfect, because yes it is very important to us and it is a part of who we are, but we also have to draw the line somewhere.

As Vger very accurately stated, it is fiction, and any changes or errors made, at the very most should be nothing more than a simple annoyance, and nothing we should be dwelling on and freaking out about.

Where would we all be though if not for these guys! I don't think certain people around here would have any other reason to keep coming back if not for them.

They always come on and rant, and then like moths to the flame, posters always fall for their baited comments and continue to fuel their crusade.

Makes for some great entertainment though with every anticipated post!

I'm one of those who believes that fans should be free to nitpick, but only insofar as it is ... kind of fun.

25 years later people are still on here complaining about STV. And 35 years later still complaining about the "slow" Motion Picture. I don't think Trekkers are ever going to stop complaining. It's best to just ignore them, because all it ever does is benefit them by feeding their bait.

Come on, haters...STILL? You have had 4 years to cry about the last one, we have this one coming up, and everyone is signed for a 3rd, I think. THEY ARE NOT GOING TO STOP OR CHANGE ANYTHING BECAUSE OF YOU!!!!! Will you ever, ever, EVER GET OVER IT? Why do you come to these boards and whine about the the same thing over, and over, and OVER?? I have a great idea... DON'T WATCH THE NEW STUFF IF YOU HATE IT SO MUCH!!!!! You are just like William Shatner said in the infamous SNL skit...GET A LIFE!!!

I'm curious...WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU WANT??? More movies that takes place in the "PRIME" universe? Good luck with that. Maybe if they hadn't released those two steaming turds INSURRECTION and NEMESIS there would still be something to go with. THEY DESTROYED IT!

Seriously, WHAT DO YOU WANT???
