You know what? You're right--I owe you and Jack Sparrow an apology. There was indeed an officer named Harrison who made several appearances on TOS, including a brief appearance in "Space Seed." However, the connection to Khan referenced in Jack's original post seems a bit tenuous. There's no indication that he defected from Starfleet to join Khan's group, or that one of Khan's followers killed him in order to infiltrate the crew. With their physical and intellectual abilities, why would they need to resort to subterfuge?

On the other hand, this guy makes a much more compelling case for Khan as the villian.

P.S.: See now why I consider Memory Alpha to be the definitive online source for all things Trek?

Well technically he had taken over a good portion of the world so historians would recognize him, just like McGivers had.

John Harrison could also be a captured Starfleet officer used as an Augment experiment on Klingon and Spock and Uhura rescue him. He could be bitter from the circumstance that led to his initial capture by the Klingons.

Mm, sorry...but Memory Alpha contains exactly one entry for John Harrison, and it's the villian from the new movie. The only one of Khan's followers who was explicitly named was Joachim, who dies during the climactic Mutara Nebula battle scene near the end of TWOK.

search by last name and you will see him. he's been in a number of episode as an extra. in one picture on the memory alpha sight he does bare resemblence to khan or can pass for a men from india.

yeah i just read something about that with the mirror universe where khan won the war but i don't think it might be this. i read somewhere from a blog with an interesting idea. that peter wellers character goes to look and finds the botany bay. he ends up killing john harrison which is a real crew members name and has kahn surgicly look like harrison and that how he is khan without looking like him.

Why does Khan need to disguise himself? No-one except PrimeSpock knows where/who he is.

If some other ship unfreezes Khan. Khan will obviously take over that ship and will have no need to hide/disguise his identity. He only did it in TOS to put Kirk and Spock off his true intentions temporarily. I can't see Khan skulking around resorting to plastic surgery to alter his great looks. Khan doesn't operate like that. He's too proud to hide amongst the inferior species. IMO.

i'm not saying its khan that wants to disguise himself but it might be the plan of who ever finds him. someone else might have a master plan. peter wellers role in this has not been seen yet so anything is possible. when kirk found him he studied everything around him to learn about where he was and not just kill everyone without think it thru. i'm not saying what i wrote is the movie its just an opinion of what i've seen and read from others.

What about B. Cumberbatch playing Garth of Izar [TOS 3x16]?

Possible similarities:

-Human villain from the TOS-era

-Belongs to the white race (unlike Khan N. S.)

-Star Fleet officer gone bad

-Achieved superhuman abilities

-Returns from some sort of captivity/exile to take revenge on mankind

-involved in fights against the klingons (battle of Axanar?)

Better guess than Khan, who is supposed to be from India. I liked the Gary Mitchell idea, but there was already a comic about (a bit disappoint too, I might add).

Garth would be an interesting idea.
