Well, I have to admit, it does lean that way with such little info. For a while I was thinking it could be Gary Mitchell, then I thought Charlie Evans. Evans is out, the character is too old. Still could be Mitchell, but the teaser does make me lean more towards Khan.
Then again, you have a new actress that could very well be Dr. Elizabeth Dehner. She has the same sort of haircut that the original character had, and she was wearing medical blue. Of course, she could also be Chapel, but Chapel wasn't a vital character in the Khan story. Also, the villian was wearing a black Starfleet undershirt. Why would Khan be wearing that? And assuming the villian was the one making the speech in front of the audiance, why would Khan be doing that?
Raises more questions than it answers. Well played JJ, well played.
And who knew Enterprise class ships could be submarines?

It Looks like it could be a good action movie but again it ain,t real Star Trek just like the last film . Don,t think its Khan would say it could be Gary Mitchel with his superpowers . Not sure a Starship could survive or even function under water yes the Delta Flyer in Voyager did but it was designed to be extra tough and had Borg shields and technolagy . Am looking forward to seeing the new film do does look like it will be fun .I think the the villian has got to be either Gary Mitchell or Charlie either could be good as long as its not Khan .Sybok spocks half brother as the villian could be good too but I don,t think it is him .

If you remember with Mitchell, if he used too much power, he would become drained and vunerable. Then you could knock him on his arse.
The shot where it seems that the bad guy is sitting in the Captain's chair. That reeks of Khan. Maybe. Who knows?
Hope I don't find out before I see it.

The biggest telling clue to Benedict Cumberbatch's character's identity is that he is wearing the black Starfleet undershirt that Kirk was wearing through a portion of the last film.
So, while it's fun to hope and to speculate, I think it probably rules out the following fan-favorite points of speculation:
Khan
Random Botany Bay Crewmember
Harry Mudd
Flint
Charlie Evans
It's more than likely:
Gary Mitchell
Garth of Izar
or some other character we haven't thought of / isn't from established canon.

Also, if you remember, Garth had a regal and lordly quality and may have spoken with a similar accent to BC.

I'm leaning towards Gary because of the blonde chick. Most likely Dr. Elizabeth Dehner.
I can't wait to see the movie!

Well, I, for one, think Mitchell would make an awesome movie bad guy. Using his "god" powers to pull down starships? Epic!

Not sure whether I like it or hate it. It tells us almost nothing about the movie, besides the fact that somebody is out for revenge (again). Then again, it is a teaser.
Anyone know when the theatrical trailer comes out?

I think everyone is correct. We forget that in this reality, anything can happen. So I think what they have done is created an amalgamation of different characters and rolled them into one. Charlie, Gary Mitchel and Khan rolled into one. The imagery is very Khan-esque but it doesn't necessarily mean its him. Charlie/Gary Mitchell would be a more logical character. Perhaps he is not Godlike but certianly someone with superior intelligence, speed and strength. Someone who is capable of infiltrating star fleet and creating havoc on his own. The odds of it being Khan is very slight at this point. Plus Khan is Indian. I dont care what reality it is. Unless they have race altering tech in the future!!! Hopefully the extended trailer with the hobbit will tell us more!!!

I thought of Kahn, but he didn't look right. Plus, what's with the submarines? It seems sort of Kahnish, but not quite. I hope it's a new character.
But As many people have said, it seems it's just more an action movie. It looks more like The Avengers than Star Trek! Buildings crashing, some evil villan smashing the world, seriously?

One thing to remember, to all those who say Mitchell, is that even with Eve looking like Dr. Dehner, Gary Mitchell appeared in the first story of the IDW comic book on-going sereies, and he was killed by Spock with a phaser rifle to the back.
Now, unless he comes back from the dead (which you never know), he's already been dealt with in the comics.

Since when does Star Trek care about what happens in the comics or books?
Are you sure it isn't time for a colorful metaphor?
