You have to remember that Star Trek was an escape from reality for some in the 1960's. Time to hit the history books people and rediscover what it was like in the 60's Vietnam, 3 assassinations (JFK,RFK,MLK JR) riots and cities burning, Racism, no equality for women.....and that was just the US. TNG VOY DS9 got away with being on the dark and dramatic side because life was easy peasey when they came out. IMHO Enterprise failed because it did the same thing with being dramatic and dark, only difference? 9/11/01 happened and the real life drama of the 60's, and before then, reared its ugly head.

I agree 1873.  I think for its time it was just normal to end a film session with something light. And it isnt like that is totally missing from television and film today.  It, and I speak for how it affects me, acts as a level of sorts for a more often than not harsh and/or sad episode.


I will say it again: I always enjoyed it but can also see how its a bit corny...
