"joking around" at end of episodes

I hate that stupid  "joking around" situation that happens at the end of almost every TOS episode. Silly music would play to show that everything is back to the status quo, and then the events in the episode were never mentioned again either.

My wife and I always think it's hilarious when the directors include what we call "funny little banter at the end of the show," which inevitably includes the happy little tune. These endings are mostly in Season 2, which is also the season the bongos in the theme song are more pronounced. I have never checked: does the same writer do all the funny endings?

Also, TAS sustained this tradition.

I'm sure it was closely tied in with how one episode was almost never related to events in any other episode. Other Star Trek shows did that a lot like TNG and Voyager, but TOS was the worst offender of course.

I actually liked those. I thought it was kind of a nice ending to the episodes, mostly because it was usually Spock making some kind of anti-human remark. I thought it was a nice ending, but I guess everyone has their differences

Some of the early TNG episodes had endings that were the opposite of those semi-silly TOS endings. For example, episodes like "Skin of Evil" and  especially "Conspiracy" where they say the parasitic aliens sent out a homing-beacon at the very end.

There were puns, barbs, and hairy eyeballs all through those episodes .... in between a plethora of subtle sexual innuendos.  I think a bit of comic relief at the end of each episode was apt and sent the message, that although things might get a bit dicey at times, the crew had been there done that all before and had well mastered the stress thing by the time the 23rd century rolled around.

I, for one, enjoy my somewhat awkward Kirky laughs at the end of an episode. After watching and hour full of drama, it always lightened the mood for me. Then again, I took in most of the episodes as a young child: anything made me laugh....

I liked them and think all of the series could have benefitted from it. TNG DS9 VOY ENT were at times more like daytime drama then sci-fi

I always enjoyed the little bantering at the end of each episode. I thought it was a great way to lighten up a scene that was shortly after a situation that was life-threatening to one of the crew members.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I don't mind it most of the time but i did think it was inappropriate at the end of 'The Galileo 7', bearing in mind that there were several deaths and it was a highly traumatic episode for all involved

That does mar an otherwise brilliant episode, still one of ht every best

Season 1 Episode 29 Spock overheard that McCoy thought he was the best first officer in the fleet. McCoy was thinking of Vulcan eyes. Then Spock turnes around and says "thank you" and Kirk is like: Bones you were so facinated by his vulcan eyes that you forgot about his Vulcan ears.

Did you ever think that it was to cover some pain or fear they felt.

I was once ran off the road instead of hitting head on.

They pulled me out and they thought I was out if my mind or on druges.

All i could do was laugh and ask, "How many times did I flip?"
