Maybe,Maybe Not; However,Since He Is Playing a Native-American Charachter, That Could Be Part Of His Nature.

He`s my favorite character in Voyager. He made me love Star Trek.
He`s handsome, intelligent and very manly.
I think some of the Chakotay -centred- episodes are really great- like Distant Origin/ Shattered/In the Flesh/Waking Moments/Unity and some others.

In my opinion Chakoty was ok, I considered Harry to be the most boring guy in Voyager and I am really dissapointed that they concelled the contract with Kes and kept Harry instead, just because he was voted into the top 30 of a sexiest men list. Would have been interesting to watch Kes developing her mental forces and also to see how she gets along with Seven...

Some people are boring. So what? At least he wasn't another Neelix.

I think if Chakotay wasn't under-used, he was certainly misused. Given what a strong actor Robert Beltran is it was an incredible waste of resources to have him play foil to Janeway and romantic interest to Seven of Nine.
He needed to be played as stronger, more dynamic, and more in the center of conflict. An alliance with a strong power that would be good for Voyager but bad for some weaker local interests would be the thing. Although Janeway was a very moral person, so it wouldn't happen.
The tension of an adversarial relationship would have been impossible to maintain long-term unless a trinity was established similar to the Kirk, Spock and McCoy dynamic.
All the best,Wayne

Agreed. Harry is a lot more boring than Chakotay. Chakotay is maybe a little bit slow...
And who voted Harry in that list???

>Voyager had the first female captain. I guess they didn't wan't Chakotay to become a too prominent figure. Chakotay was first officer, member of the Maquis, Indian. He had an enourmous potential as a character. He would outshine the captain.

My thoughts exactly... 'specially during the first couple of seasons as Kate ever so slowly developed the character that Janeway would become. After she started sporting the bob however, the character had matured majestically.
My favorite series.

I love Chakotay. He is my second favorite character in the show (first being Janeway). I just wish he'd got better storylines and that they hadn't neglected him as much as they did. I think there was so much more they could have done with him (same with Tuvok, Harry and Neelix). I thought he (and Seven) deserved better in the finale. But Chakotay was never boring to me. I wish we'd seen more of him! Seven, on the other hand, I thought got way too much screen time. But that's just me.

I find Chakotay one of the best and most exciting Trek characters to exist.
Who'd let that cat in here?
