I think we were on the verge of setting a record for consecutive days passed without yet another "NEW SERIES" thread.
Oh well.

I think the best thing to do would be bringing back DS9. It seems enough time has passed to make it intresting. So many questions to answer.

Possibly but don't hold your breath. Does nobody remember how many years passed by between original series and TNG?

A new series like Star Trek The Next Generation would be greatly appreciated! I grew up with them and I loved Captain Picard and his crew! Perhaps a story with young Captain Picard!?

The answer to this one seems pretty simple (at least to me). With all the popularity of crime dramas, you coul dreally easily do some kind of series like a (Trek) Space Investigators. They are based at a space dock somewhere, and have a legal team (admiral, few captains, commanders, and a couple specialist lieutenants). One specialist is a crackerjack dentonator scientist, but is a total ego. One is a exo-linguist, specializing in understanding the legal laws of various planets. This character is some kind of neutrist, meaning not aligned with any race or home planet, so is allowed free access (gets around legal ramblings). They get a cool ship with tons of computer memory and scientific equipment. The one captain just commands the ship and has no legal skills, but the first officer is a investigator and legal guru. One character could be a treaty expert in interpretations. One character is a commander who is an alien from some kind of tri- or quad-sexual planet so they specialize in gender-based suits, etc. The second idea for a series could be some kind of starfleet Academy series based around cadets, 3 or 4 instructors, 2 or 3 parents of the kids, and the Academy commendant and the challenges he faces (his wife is also prominent as a Starfleet advisor in another division).

whatever it is, it will be NEW trek, format will be like the Star Trek in2009, new producer and new ideas. maybe Berman will be the co-producer / adviser, but dobut he will be the real guy take the helm of the new trek. it maybe like Tos/ TNG , a few old people lead a lot of new blood to meet the new audiences of the next generation.
don't get me wrong, i grew up with TNG, and TNG is my favourite, but, those 80's long converstaion drama seems dont fit into 21'st century's fast pace trend like CSI or whateever thee popular ones now.
we need a 21st century style of Star Trek.

I think Enterprise filled that role quite nicely. I'd love to have another show like that on the air.

Well, TNG was "The Next Generation." So, after 25 years, a new generation has come along. It is officially time for another series!

What most people dont or didnt realize is just what happens when a new timeline is started erasing the entire history (of Trek). A new series cannot mention any characters or situations after Kirk because of the new timeline. Does Tuvok exist or was he born before Nero's red matter crap? Some technology is not yet there on that timeline while other new and different ones are, but which ones are which? Q is the one who brought the Borg into the Star Trek world but, that happens to Picard's Enterprise which in a new timeline could be Enterprise-C or B, or even Enterprise J but, not Enterprise-D like in TNG because the new timeline demands a new history and perhaps Picard only made it to lieutenant like in that one 'Scrroge' episode with Q taking Picard on a time trip to see what life would have been like having not made 'that' one mistake...
My point is obvious, and anyone who didnt think of these things is a phony or a rookie Trekker or Trekkie, as well as a rookie film artist. Luckily I am here...and you will all just have to wait until I can work out a contract...

That's assuming it takes place in the Abramsverse. A series that takes place in the prime universe would still contain all the canon from the series and the first ten movies.
