So who was the smartest? That's a hard one. Kirk seemed very smart on battle tactics, Picard seemed to be perceptive and knowlegable, Janeway was a scientist, and Archer was very fair minded.

I'll have to go with Sisko, however, I think he was the most perceptive, and always thought everything out well.

Picard always excelled at everything he did, and he was a professor later (in the books, at least). So, I think he was probably the smartest captain.

I honestly can't pick the smartest ! Being Captains , they have to be smart ! Each has a different attribute . Kirk besides being bright and friendly , is spontaneous . Picard is probably the best diplomat . Archer is a leader and explorer . Janeway is the best organiser . And Sisko is probably the best war commander !
