Is my chosen ship name supposed to appear on my ship, or will it always carry the original name regardless what I rename it too?

It's supposed to show the name you gave it. If it doesn't, you'll need to file a bug report... and hope it gets fixed.

I have seen the truth, and it doesn't make sense.

Ugh... done so twice, I always get a message saying my ticket's been updated, and when I check the tickets, there's nothing there.

Yeah, the bug report system isn't the greatest. And if you try to file a regular support ticket, they just tell you to file a bug report. That's why I said "hope it gets fixed."

I haven't run into the bug myself yet, but i also haven't gotten a new ship in a while.

the ship i will have will be the uss alamo ncc-1966. the newest starship it will be the galaxy class that will split in three,s like in star trek voyager.

Sometimes when you rename/reregister a ship, it retains the old name for a while. Renaming it again or even just map-changing a few times should do the trick.

I did that, it worked. Not sure why it didn't take right away, but it didn't take away my free renaming, and let me rename it the same thing it was already named, and then it showed up. Weird... anyways, thanks.
