Meeting Star Trek Actors

I've met so many over the years and have seen even more on stage without getting an autograph. I started going  to cons in the mid 80s as a kid.  Back when Creation cons were fun and affordable.  But my favorite was meeting Leonard Nimoy a few years ago. I paid a premium for a photo op and autograph, but it was worth every penny, especially since I made him laugh.

That's a great story, bunkey, and I love your avatar!   I've heard that Leonard is a wonderful human being and is very accessible to fans when he's available for signings and photo ops and such.  (Of course, we all respect folks' privacy when they're not "on stage".)

2takesfrake -- thank you so much for your reassuring words.  I wish I had your EQ at that moment.  Actually, I wish I had called in sick, called and e-mailed everyone I knew in IT in the Financial District and asked them to call everyone THEY knew to tell them that "Scotty" was signing autographs, rented a heat lamp for Mr. Doohan ASAP, and shepherded a mass "love-in".  Plus, I would have taken the cable car home to grab the 30 year old scotch for a nip.  I think that would have improved things!

Another fun story is sneaking up to the stage at the age of 12 while there was a costume contest being judged by Mark Lenard and Jane Wyatt.  They were not going to be signing autographs, so I literally crawled up to the stage and tugged Mark Lenard's pant leg and asked for an autograph.  I must have looked very Puss in Boots cute because he smiled, asked my name, signed my magazine and then handed it to Jane Wyatt to sign.

It was my very first convention.

Through many conventions over the years I've said hi and exchanged a few brief words with many of the actors.

The one time that wasn't at a convention was when my husband and I went to see Robert Picardo in a musical. After the show we hung around for a little while to see if we could see him on his way out and just kind of hoping he would sign an autograph (sometimes actors sign after plays we have the whole cast of Rent on a playbill)

One of the peopl working at the theater said he wouldn't be coming out so after a quick stop at the rest rooms we decided to leave. but first we noticed a group of people hanging around and the theater worker trying to tell them to leave. We overheard someone in the group say that they were waiting for their friend Bob Picardo. We asked the group if we could wait with them just to get a chance to see him since we were big fans. When he came out they all said hi to him but we hung back out of their way, then one of the ladies was like oh these two wanted to meet you. He was super nice, he talked to us for a while and signed our copy of his book.

At another convention it was very late, the convention activities for the day were well over and a group of us were hangin out in the hotel loby outside the bar. J G Herzler comes out of the bar and we all kind of go WOOO Martok!! He comes over the group, drink in hand and goes into a Klingon drinking song. It was awesome

JG Hertzler is a riot! I regret not stalking getting his autograph him at a convention when I saw him heading to the bar. I had just gone to a convention specifically for Nimoy and had no idea that he and Robert O'Rielly did their Klingon act. I would have bought into the happy hour for that.
