>In one episode

>Quark becomes arms dealer, with a good scheme so the law can't prosecute him and his "friends" begin to alienate, that seems odd even unrealistic if i prosper i will help my friends and i sure hope for the same if they prosper but no instead they start acting like he is enemy number one...

>With that kind of "friends" i'll actually go off the station and blow it up..

>

Obviously they thought that what he was doing was unethical. Since he was using his arms-dealing business to profit from a war, I think his "friends" had a pretty good point.

@dreem24: If you're looking for a grittier, more realistic version of Star Trek, I recommend you check out Enterprise. It stays true to the Star Trek theme, but the characters are more realistic and they don't wear "pajamas".

Or just skip Star Trek and watch Battlestar Galactica, or Band of Brothers. Why bother with science fiction at all if you find so many of its common tropes too unrealistic?

You all obviously didn't read my original post!!!  I said I love all things Star Trek and I feel we are long overdue for a new series!  I don't even care what the series is about... AS LONG AS WE GET ONE!!!

First off, Voyager was an excellent series. A series exploring the Delta Quadrant wouldn't be bad, but what I really want to see is a Romulan wars series.

I thought Voyager was the best Star Trek by far. It had so much variety and original ideas, in my opinion. Although some would disagree with me with that. I've always thought Voyager's crew was the best also. TNG either comes close to second, or a tie.

But yeah, I'm craving another good Star Trek TV show. But I'd enjoy something different, like what DS9 did. I'd like to see a TV show from the perspective of a Romulan Warbird AND Federation Starship showing the story of two different sides in one episode, or something like that.

Isn't that what almost everyone does on these boards?

Yes I would like to see a new series. As long as the producers of said new series put enough consideration into it to make something good.

No I am not pining for one.

Adding to the above: A scientifically realistic space opera, to be blunt, would be absolutely boring.

True enough. I suppose what I meant to say was, "Why criticize Star Trek just because it's absolutely nothing even remotely like what you want it to be in any way whatsoever? Why not watch something else -- something you actually like?"

I don't want scientifically realistic show i want everyday(stuff) realistic show...

Witch means the fighting must look real, the ships, the weapons, the people actions(no one drinks or walk like starfleet people do i mean most people are walking tall) not everyone just speaks ,people shout when they are in dispute, not everyone joins to be explorer some do it for the money,power...

You can't expect me to believe that the uniform displayed in the shows is realistic i could imagine how someone with this will be shout out at the street that he is crazy and most probably be stopped by the police

That's the main problem everyone is just 2 dimensional

I still want shields, laser weapons, space torpedos, simple i want people to act like a real persons and the everyday stuff to be more real

Again, try Enterprise. It's got plenty of raised voices, and the fighting is much more realistic. The uniforms are a bit more current military uniforms as well.

I don't think it's actually possible to have a "realistic" show set in the 24th century, with "realistic" 24th century spaceships and costumes, because the 24th century hasn't happened yet. So, everything will necessarily be unrealistic regardless of the design choices made. If Kirk and Co. were to wear more contemporary military-style outfits, that would be unrealistic. Laser weapons, shields, and torpedoes are also unrealistic, probably.

And, to be honest, I don't think most Trek fans care, so you're not likely to ever see a more "everyday" sort of Star Trek series. In fact, I think a lot of Trek fans would be bored with such a show. If I want to see realistic fights and people shouting at each other, I'll watch the news.

Yes we need a new series, bad.  One that is set in a newer frontier of the Federation and one that involves a star-base and the adventures of a star-ship or two.  With crew rotations and changes, as well as relative drama and some border fights.  Maybe include some on-going colony issues and some crew-relatives on those colonies.
