Does anyone else think it was a huge mistake to create the Borg Queen, b/c Q said "you can't destroy them, if you destroy par of them their essence remains" now all you have to do is kill the queen; sort of defeats the whole purpose of creating them doesn't it?

No, Chris, I think that creating and killing off the Borg queen was simply a vehicle used in "First Contact" to create a central evil character to go after - just something to drum up excitement, add a little sex, etc.

It was all to sell the movie, which - according to Nick Meyer, was a rather sad attempt compared to the wonderful work in "Wrath of Khan". I have to agree with him. From the small and pitifully over-rought scene using the Moby Dick dialog in STFC to playingthe "Data gets to have sex" card, I cringed many times during STFC. But one has to step back and allow the flow of the plot and the suspension of disbelief to take you sometimes in order to enjoy a movie that was really just made to make money.

I think the Borg still remain, no matter what they can try to do in off-shoot movies. Their legacy lives on.

Maybe you didnt follow the other Trek series..............but killing the Queen only killed the near by Borg Drones.

The collective continued to exsist and a New Queen was created.SoQ's words holds true.

Yeah. The Borg that were part of that Queen's mini-Collective on the Enterprise died, but the ones left behind in 2373 survive.

I agree with this.  One Queen couldn't be everywhere at once.  Yes, her essence could be, but physically, she couldn't be.  So there would have to be other bodies for the Queen to use.  Or if the Borg are more like a bee hive, if a queen is killed then the worker bees feed a drone royal jelly, thus making a new Queen.  I would have liked to have seen if the Borg collective could have been somewhat more like most hives
