I don't see how you would leave because you have to take 5 more seconds to post. Sure it's kind of annoying, but leaving the site?

I just did the captcha and it took me 4 seconds.

Do the admins exist?

And guess what, it just hapened to me!

It is annoying and sometimes takes more than a few seconds.  Sometimes the second word is near illegible and I would type in the wrong word or it takes me a few seconds to figure out what the letters are.

Sometimes I've had the captcha box not appear (while quoting) and my post disappears.

These difficulties happened enough times to turn me off from using the boards.  and it isn't just me.  Top posters used to have over 100 posts in a day, now the top post is usually around 13 and the amount of activity has dropped since captcha began being used.  Obviously i am not the only person turned off by this system as activity here has dropped off so much since Captcha began to be used.

Besides, as I've said, I've used numerous other forums, none of which use this captcha nonsense.

Some of us care about this site and want it to grow and be a welcoming place to new trek fans and members.  Captcha turns people away and inhibits interaction (even if just a little).

What turns people away? If they want to join startrek.com, then will they really not post if there is one extra step?

I agree. Many times I go to post a reply and even though I got the captcha right it still didn't post even after multiple attempts. It's as if Q was in charge of it and Q was, well, being Q

But if they get rid of it, then there would be no meaning to the several thousand "I just typed (fill in the blank) to post this." posts that appear in a matter of seconds.

But I have logged in.

Then takes about 4 refreshes to get the reply box to appear.

 I will not give up.

That drives me crazy! It usually only happens when you log in on the Boards page. If you log in on the home page, it's fine.

Captcha drives me nuts. i would love to see it go away.

I fail to see how they go away from it. I guess it's one thing if they are a computer, but most trolls are not...

I've also experienced that glitch. I doubt it's got anything to do with the Captcha thingy tho.

And by me, and by many others. The problem started happening after CAPTCHA was introduced. As I recalled, CAPTCHA was already in place when the account "Ambassadore_Abzorbaloff" showed up. So who do you suppose would know better: one person who didn't come to these boards until after CAPTCHA was introduced, or multiple people who've been here for years? Unless, of course, if you are suggesting that you were/have been here under a different name, which would indicate you are a dual or a previously banned member.
