Honestly, I would say to enjoy Vegas and don't overplan.  Four days is a lot of Trek, and you will have plenty to see.  The captain's talks and main cast talks are definitly worth it.  A buddy and I had everything lined up for all four days, but Thursday and Friday ended up doing only a few hours Trek and then hit the Rio pool, Vegas strip, etc.  They will have a schedule out at least a month or two in advance where you can highlight what you want to see, and then ignore your schedule .  I think I have one or two other responses in this thread with my thoughts on it, but I think for the first time you kinda need to go and get a feel for it.  I'm planning on going to 2013, but still haven't decided on a ticket level, and am interested more in socializing with other fans (at the bars, kareoke, etc) this time around than trying to squeeze in talks.  Don't get me wrong, there are a few chats I missed out on last year that I'll probably want to hit next year, but that won't be my focus.  Anyway, just go, don't overthink it, and you'll have a blast.

My partner and I plan on attending the Vegas convention for the first time and are really debating whether or not to go gold. We have a lot of the autographs already from the celebrities that are being included and we're not ones for karaoke or dinner parties. Mainly, I just want a halfway decent seat. We've gone gold for a couple other conventions in the past (Chicago 2011 & Cherry Hill 2012) and it's always a question of "is it worth the money?" And for the exorbitant price of gold for Vegas, I'm not sure I can justify that amount of money. Does anyone know what other options they usually offer and how much they've run in the past?

They should be selling the Captain's Chair packages anytime now.

Last year they cost I think about $500.

They also have preferred weekend and General Admission, but they don't go on sale till  it gets closer to the convention date.

Hello All!  I'm planning on attending my first convention in Vegas this year and I have a question.  For those of you who attended the convention last year and stayed at the Rio, were you happy with the accommodations?  I was hoping to stay there to be close to the action, but some of the reviews I've been reading are all over the map.

Other then the long trip from my room to the convention area, I didn't mind the Rio's accomadations at all.

Hi everyone! I'm thinking of attending this convention this year, and I have a quick question. Are there any convention-goers out there who will be attending by themselves? My state is quite far from the convention, and while I might possibly have a friend who is willing to travel with me to Vegas, I don't know if he'll want to come to the actual convention with me.

This will be my first Star Trek convention, and I'm sure that I would enjoy attending with or without a companion, but I'm curious about how common a practice it is for people to go to conventions alone.

I can't speak for everyone who attends conventions, but when I go to the VegasCon I go alone.
