>Rawscoe - can you post the name of the guy on eBay? I think I found someone local to me in DC but wouldn't mind a backup if they are a ripoff.

The seller on eBay who has the TOS uniforms is "murraymousie", here is a link to one of his auctions:

Thanks for the lookout Rawscoe - I'm going to try for a simple yet effective costume this year.  Would love to go as a Cardassian Gul, but want to keep it simple for my first run at it, and it is something I could probably do online in a pinch if I send measurements.

As I mentioned before, I am a TOS guy, so a costume for me would be simple and effective. Good-on the people who go all out with the make-up, but for me, TOS Starfleet Uniform all the way.

How were the vendors in Vegas for selection of TOS costumes? Is it feasible to pick up a costume while there?

I'm not sure you could do a full costume there.  Plenty of shirts for sale, accessories (phasers, comm badges, batleths, etc) but the full costumes I saw were from vendors who would go home with your measurements and do custom work.

I was telling a buddy that it would be a slick money making idea to rent out a costume and help with makeup for $100-200 per day.  I would have forked over some money to be a Klingon for a day...

It'd be hell making sure people didn't run off with your stuff though.

Greetings Huuu-mons,

I just stumbled upon this site today and I'm as happy as a Ferrengi in a pool of latinum.

I didn't find the dates of the 2012 Las Vegas convention. Would somebody please let me know or tell me where to look.  I would love to be able to attend the London event, but it seems I don't have have access to a transporter...sigh.

You're probably right Guillermo - maybe they would be able to precharge a credit card a few hundred bucks that gets charged if you don't return.  A lot of logistics would be involved, which I'm sure is why no one has done it already.  I was toying with the idea of getting a batleth to hang up on my wall, and prices ranged from less than $100 for a cheaper looking one to about $300 for one that looked pretty cool.  Gotta give respect to the folks that get all decked out - they probably put days and days into their costumes.

I got a uniform top at a Denver Con, but then found some sturip pants that I used.  I had black boots that worked.  And I had gotten a phaser, tricorder and a combadge from work.  They had been returns and our manager at the time would hold an auction type sale for us employees.  The phaser and tricorder just had a loose wire that I fixed easily!  Plus I had gotten another combadge at the con I bought the shirt at.  I used all of that for a costume contest at the next Denver Con.  I didn't win anything, didn't expect to, but I had a blast and made some cool new friends!!

I haven't been to a Vegas Con yet, but I think if you can get some uniform pieces at the traders room, or even online now, and then search around where you live for other parts, you will be able to get a decent costume.

A little girl was a Borg drone, her mom said they used battery powered Christmas lights, and a little boy was LaForge, his mom said that she painted one of her banana hair combs silver and gold to look like the visor.  She won first place and he was second place in the kids costume contest.  To me, those are the coolest costumes!  The ones with one or two offical bits and then the other bits that are homemade to make a complete outfit.

I added my 4th Dr Who scarf the next day at the con mainly to keep track of my mom and Aunt while we were in the trader's room

Usually a few weeks after the last Vegas convention, so it should be any day now.
