Both Bane and Shinzon grew up in hellish prison as a child
After they both escape prison, Shinzon becomes leader of the Remans while Bane becomes leader of the League of Shadows
Both Bane and Shinzon have a plot to kill humans. Bane wanted to destroy Gotham City while Shinzon wanted to destroy Earth

Actually, Bane was not the leader of The League Of Shadows. As revealed at the end of the movie, Talia Al-Ghul was the leader and Bane was working for her. So, really, in the movie, Bane was nothing more than a hired hand/bodyguard for her. Now, the comic book version of Bane is similar to Shinzon in that he develops an obsession for destroying Batman simply to prove that he is better than Batman and can conquer him and take over Gotham City. As for the portrayals, I think Tom Hardy gave Bane more of a regal bearing and attitude, whereas Shinzon seemed to me to be exactly what he was: a power-hungry upstart that happened to acquire a little power through knowing the right people.

Ahh, Kirk, my old friend. Do you know the Klingon proverb which tells us revenge is a dish that is best served cold? It's very space.

That's interesting - I thought yes, because (and I just watched the film 2 days ago) upon hearing Bane's voice for the first time, I thought - Hey, is this guy channeling Jean Luc Picard, or what?

It wasn't until you mentioned that it was the same actor that I put two and two together. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh HAH!
