It was a well done movie. I liked some funny scenes. The story was kind of stupid, but I'll give you that.

I still prefer The Voyage Home, though...

The Voyage Home is also a good job. But I think there was a hidden good wish to Kirk when Will directed it.

That Star Trek:V opening scene on Nimbus III is really stupid/lame, and it's funny how William Shatner thought it was supposed to be dramatic.

Is it Will's idea?

I think there were some good humanizing elements of the final frontier. the opening scenes at yellowstone and mccoys deathbed decision were really good.  The problem for me was the story. They should have picked either the klingons or spocks brother  or the god alien as the antagonist and done away with the others. it muddled the movie too much.  paramount should have stood by the franchise and not cut the budget. also, nichelle nichols was  about a decade out from doing a fan dance. someone should have had the balls to tell her. i guess i will go with the conventional answer and say wrath of khan is still my fave. (i bet you would have never guessed with my name).

ST II-IV & VI!

TMP would have been an amazing series-2 pilot (if you ignore the horrible pajama costumes).  In fact, it was--they took the pilot (virtually unedited) and added an hour worth of special effects.  Take out hour of unneccessary space montages and it would have been a great 50-minute episode.

TFF had so much potential--but Shatner is a crap director (ever seen Tek Wars?) and Lawrence Luckinbill wasn't believable, to me, as Sybok.

The Final Frontier is amazing, but not my favorite. First Contact was better

I really hope that you are kidding, that is inarguably the worst Trek movie, Wrath of Khan!!! Then closely followed by The Voyage Home. Nicholas Meyer is a much better Trek director. First Contact is also excellent but still, WHAT!!! Final Frontier?
