Okay, I am going to start playing.

One question: do you name your starship when you create it? If so, any name ideas?

I am coming up with names in case.

So far, my biggest idea (actually my Mom's) is the MoogiePie (Think Fergengi Moms.)

When you get a new ship, it comes with a random default name, but you can change it (and the registry number) for free. If you decide to change it later, it costs C-Points, however. Some names are restricted, like Enterprise, Defiant, and Voyager... but you'll see a lot of ships named "Enterprize".

I generally go with themes. For my ENG character, the theme was my home. My first ship was the Biloxi (city closest to my home town), second ship was the Mississippi (home state), one one mission you can get a shuttle... mine was Hancock (county). My next one was the Republic (referencing the US). That lead to the theme to morph a little. My Captain-tier ship was Citizen (expanding on the Republic). When I hit Rear Admiral (that's when you get your last "free" ship) I went with the Gawain... which is my account handle.

My TAC officer is going with a sword theme. His first (and only, so far) ship is the Gladius.... a Roman short sword.

I also have a copy of Franz Joseph's 1975 "Star Fleet Technical Manual" which has a couple hundred ship names in it, which is great because not very many of them were ever used on-screen.

In case you were wondering, you get a new ship for free at every rank (except Lt.--you keep your starter/Ensign ship [there is no Lt., JG rank]) up to Rear Admiral, Lower Half.

Mine were an attempt to have ships with names that would really be ship names, plus things that I like or find interesting.

1. USS LOVELL (named for the Astronaut)
2. USS MONTGOMERY (named for Scotty)
3. USS NIXON (named for the former President)
4. USS ENDEAVOUR (Named for Apollo 15 & the Space Shuttle)
5. USS Dallas (named for the Los Angeles Class Submarine/My hometown)

Are you sure it isn't time for a colorful metaphor?

Energy Credits, not C-Points. Big difference between the two.

I have several ships. My main flies an Odyssey class starship called the USS Dauntless. He also has a Connie refit (USS Resolute) and a Defiant class escort (USS Gallery). His starter ship was a Miranda class called USS Centauri.

I suggest have a naming theme you can use throughout your gaming experience.  for example, all the ships that one of my characters' has are named for ships used by Sir Ernest Shackleton.  A friend gets all his names from Greek mythology, for example, his runabout was named Stix.  Another friend named all his ships for space shuttles, excluding Enterprise and including Buran.  For my Gorn, all his ships are named for dinosaurs.

If you pick a theme for your names, it helps you find cool and significant ones.

Of course i know some who pick silly names (which I don't like) such as the USS Horse With No Name and the USS Big Boobs.

I just keep the same name, but every time I got a new ship, added -A, -B, -C, etc.

I tend not to worry too much, since you always get a new one.

NCC-1922? How did you do that? I thought the number had to be between 91001 and 999999.

Most of us Trekkies to...  Many Trekkies also have all of the episodes and books and collectibles.  What's your point?
