I hate these things.  Half the time I can't read the word.  But I guess if it gets rid of spammer it will be worth it. 

It would be nicer if it actually blended in with the page correctly.

captcha drives ME nuts too! half the time i gotta do it 5 times in a row to get myself in! And how does it keep spammers away, they seem to have plenty time to spam what diff does it make to them to type in 12 more things?

it stops people from writing programs that will spam the board like happened over the weekend.  A computer program can't read the words and type them.  So while we can still have spammers who are willing to put in the time and effort.  But we won't get 40 pages of spam in a few minutes that overwhelm the board to the point where it doesn't work

It's a situation where we all have to pay the price for spammers.  While it may inhibit the spammers, it's also a major nuisance for the rest of us.

 If it keeps that garbage we saw recently from happening again I don't mind typing a few extra things. That first spam attack I was down to page 9 of Ten Forward and still no real posts.

What's a couple of words or numbers for a little added security?

Edit: In my praise of it I forgot to actually do it to make it post. DUH

It would be better if it was just a single item to type - not trying to figure out what it really says.  I don't know how often I have to guess at one of them.

Suggestion for this new Captcha... only make it necessary for new members - those that have been around for less than a certain amount of time and a certain number of posts.

Sometimes these are difficult for me to do.  I think it is easier when they use ones with the letters curved but with space between them rather than the ones that have all the letters squished together. 

It is disappointing to now have to do one of these when I decide to post something now.

Me: To make it a bit easier, if one of the words has punctuation in it, you don't need to worry about it. You can enter anything, as long as the other word is correctly typed. One of the words won't always have punctuation, but before long you'll be able to figure out which of the words is the one that needs to be typed just by the font.

Not only will this slow down the spammers, but it might just slow down the regular members, and some users, from posting since half the time one can hardly make out what the Captcha actually says without multiple tries

Oh, well.  At least it's a start on Admins part.  Now if they could just permanatly fix the other bugs/glitches
