Hello all.

I'm sure this question has been asked many times before. I have looked on google and as it is google, I did not find my answer.

Was it ever addressed (in show) how combadges and rank pips are adhered to the uniforms?

My personal theory was that it was magnetic and the clothing was made with some sort of magnetic or metal material.

I am not sure it was ever addressed. But I know what you mean they seemed to magically come off. I would guess a magnet or some futuristic equivalent sewn into the uniform since everything would have to be in the same places.

I think they had pins on the back of them, to hold them onto the uniforms.  I can't imagine using Velcro!

I'm sure that's how it was done for the show. I was asking about in show (in universe).

I'm just guessing

Maybe it grabs on like Borg Nanoprobes, or earrings.

Maybe some kind of re-usable space age adhesive???
