A friendly bump from an x. I agree, a new Trek series is way over due. Considering the next Trek movie has been bumped till next year.

Sad to say if there's a new Star Trek series the Abramverse is the best bet for a setting, assuming the new movie does good enough to create enough demand a TV network decides to take a chance on another one. Enterprise tanking in the ratings and being canceled hasn't been forgotten.

I would like to see a series about a real exploration ship--a Science or Medical ship, like Dr. Crusher's USS Pasteur.  But, I'm not sure if they could provide enough fast-paced episodes to attract many viewers (other than geeks like me).

Maybe we can make our own, and put it on the internet.  

I say a series that covers the first contact with Romulans, the war that happens, and the truce there after. Something Star Trek never went into detail about. Or a series set 50 years after Voyager.

When Doctor Who was off-air between 1989-2005 some of the fans made their own DW, writing their own audio dramas and getting the actors from the series to perform them.

Just sayin' if you really want more Trek you don't need to wait for CBS to provide it.

Perhaps. Honestly I can't say I'd ever heard of the work of any of them before the 2009 movie though. So they're not THAT big yet. Though another couple movies, they probably will be. Honestly I see them in a Toby McGuire scenario. Despite his best efforts to break into the industry, he'll only be remembered as Spider-man.

But sure WE all want a new series, we're already fans. It really is going to hinge on how popular the new movie is and how many people it wins over. If the 2009 movie didn't make it clear, Abrams really is catering to the non-fans more than to us.

There have to be enough uniforms lying around here... Why don't we just do it ourselves?

They could make a new series in the alternate timeline and have it be about a different ship, or maybe a space station like DS9 was, and just have the movie stars show up at the start to kick it off, like DS9 did.
