Hello there,

I am thinking about playing Star Trek Online, and was wondering if its worth the time,

and if so, do you have any hints for me?

Thank you my fellow Trekkies!

It's certainly worth trying out. You may want to familiarize yourself with the backstory, so you don't get confused about the premise. http://www.stowiki.org/Accolade/Lore (scroll down to "Chapters")

What kind of hints yould you like? Stuff pertaining to space combat, ground combat, etc?

Hello & thank you for replying!

About hints... just any general tips you can give me regarding combat, (ground & space). Also, I had one question.. it said something about picking the Bridge officers?

What ones are best to pick and why?

Thank you for your help!

Find me in the game, we can help each other out... my handle is Graham@Gawain_VIII. You can use the game mail interface to send me a message, or if I'm online when you are, you can use the chat interface to PM me with the /tell command. (Don't forget to let me know who you are so I don't think you're some random person spamming me for the fun of it.)

If you haven't started playing yet, I can also be found on my fleet's forum at http://sto-frontier-fleet.proboards.com/. (Don't laugh at the forum when you see it, we're brand new--less than a week old.) My name there is the same as my in-game character, Robert C. Graham.

Hey, sorry if this is a bit off topic. I was thinking about playing STO as well but when I went to download it on my moms Mac a picture of someone windows desktop popped up while the file was downloading. Which set me on edge, so of course I cancelled the download. Has this happened to anyone else, is the game safe, and most importantly is it fun?

Sadly, STO isn't designed to work on Macs.

However, there is an unofficial Mac version that was created by one of the Tech Support people. I use this on my MacBook pro; it works very well. Here's the link: http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=76799

And yes, the game is very fun.

@mitchz95 Ooh that makes much more sense! I could always download it on my own PC but if it crashes my computer I'll have to pay someone to fix it. I was just thinking about putting it on my mom's Mac because she could get it fixed for free. Thanks for the link, I'll be sure to try it out.
