Acclamator class is that Star Destroyer in Episode II, the one that lands on the planet

Darth Plagieus is (I think) that guy Palpatine mentions to Anakin in Episode III, the one who could reverse death.

However, neither of these made half as long an onscreen appearence (or mention) as either Defiant. A better comparison would be asking about the Temporal Cold War, or Species 8472. And these still have too many mentions to be fair, at least for you latter example.

Personally, I like Star Trek better, because of many different reasons. For one thing, the suspension of disbelief was rather difficult with the Force, and the much worse science of Wars (not that Star Trek science is good, but it's better). Second, there's so much more stuff for Trek. Thirdly, and this comes with having a TV show as opposed to just a few movies, the characters are just so much better developed. You can see this even within Trek as the difference in character development between the old and new Kirks and co. Finally, the ships have much more consistency in Trek. You can see the design lineage and such, but there are still several different ship classes. As opposed to Star Wars, where there is absolutely no resemblance between different ships (with a few exceptions, such as Star destroyers, Y-Wings, Z-95s/X-wings), but fleets are made up of only a few different types of ships (consider ROTJ, where the Imperial fleet is made up of various TIE variants, one super star destroyer, and several identical star destroyers).

I agree with marshal. Star wars canon is very different from trek canon as it encompasses everything from the movies, to TV series, to novels, to comic, an even in some cases video games, while trek canon covers the. Five series and 10 movies. So please show a little more fairness in your comparisons, by using primary or secondary characters in them.

Now as for the topic at hand, I constder both trek and wars to be two of the three greatest sci-fi franchises ever created (the third being stargate) but in the end, and despite the fact that I try to be fair in my own comparisons of the two franchises, I do considered myselve more of a trek fan then a wars fan.

I love both genres, though I know more about Trek than Star Wars. I think Han Solo and James Kirk would be the best of friends if they ever met. Just as I think Darth Vader and the crew of the Mirror Universe Enterprise may have worked well together.

Both franchises have their good and bad moments.

So, I guess I enjoy both equally.

I cannot stand Stars Wars! Scientific inaccuracy upsets me. Star Trek emphasizes the pursuit of knowledge, whereas Star Wars is just mindless action. I will never watch Star Wars. I live and breath Star Trek.

Really the only difference between Star Wars "science" and Star Trek "science" is Trek uses technobabble to explain how it all works and Star Wars doesn't worry about how it works, it just does.

They are so different these shows so how can you compare? I love them both in different ways.
