Did anyone else think the aliens in 'Battleship' acted a lil like the Borg? Ignoring anyone they didn't see as threat. Also when they were assembling the communications beacon, it reminded me of First contact.

All I could think of when I heard there was a movie called Battleship was the following imagined dialogue:
"GEE! FOUR!" "HIT! You sunk my destroyer. NOOOO!!!"
Get ready for the next instalment; Boggle: The Movie.
Have you ever danced with a Tribble in the pale moonlight?

This movie is going to be remembered as one of the worst box office flops EVER! I didn't see it and many people choose to watch Avengers a 3rd time instead of wasting their money on Battleship. Seriously, what the hell were they thinking!?!

I was set to make a joke about waiting for the movie based on Monopoly, but damn if a Google search didn't wipe the smirk off my face:

Ridley Scott to direct 'Monopoly'
Writer Pettler to pen script
By Marc Graser
Ridley Scott has officially moved onto Park Avenue.
The helmer will direct Universal Pictures' bigscreen version of Hasbro's Monopoly board game from a script by Pamela Pettler.
Scribe's written toons "Monster House," "The Corpse Bride" and "9," which Tim Burton and "Wanted"-helmer Timur Bekmambetov are producing.
Scott, who recently helmed Warner Bros.' "Body of Lies" has long been attached to the project. He will produce, with Hasbro topper Brian Goldner, as well as direct.
"Monopoly" is set up at Universal Pictures, which has a first-look deal with Hasbro to develop movies based on the company's line of toys. Those include "Ouija," which Platinum Dunes is developing, and "Battleship."
Hasbro jumped into the adaptation game after successfully turning its "Transformers" toys into a franchise at DreamWorks and Paramount. It has actioner "G.I. Joe" bowing next summer.

BWHAHAHAHAHA! Gobots, the lame Transformers ripoff.
I should have known the Pirates of the Caribbean would start a mad dash to the bottom of creativity.
I, being a girl child of the 80s, want a She-ra, Jem, and Rainbow Brite mash-up movie.

It's not the first board game movie - there's already been 'Clue' based on Clue/Cluedo.
As for Battleships, all I've seen is the trailor, which reminded me a bit of the video game Crysis, at the end when they're on the aircraft carrier

I saw 'Battleship'. I had heard some negative things, and knew it's turnout at the box office was low. In the begining I thought it was going to be bad; it did start kind of corny. As it progressed, it got better and better, and in the end I understood the corniness of the beggining. It was a great patriotic movie. Yes it did have a feel of Star Trek. The aliens did have some Borg behavior, ignoring anyone that didn't pose a threat, and it did remind me of 'First Contact' when the aliens were constructing the communications beacon. All it needed to be a Trek film was for the battleship to be called the US Enterprise. that would be a really big prequel movie .. lol I think a trekkie would like this movie personally, give it a chance..Go see it!

I was disappointed with the aliens in it, they were just humans with goatees. For a movie with a 200+ million dollar budget they could've at least had some legit looking aliens.

If you can get past the first 30-35 minutes of the movie you might like it. That first part of the movie was absolutely atrocious. I almost vomited it was so bad. There were a couple of people who fell asleep. A couple of people left. I almost left to go see the Avengers again.
But after thatfirst half hour or so it actually turns out to be a decent movie.
Here are the biggest problems(along with the opening minutes): Liam Neeson isn't the star of the movie. Rhianna is a horrible actress. The lead character is unbelievable. The script was terribly written. Nothing was done to try to explain why the aliens decided to attack Earth. no one in the movie attempted to contact the aliens which makes no sense as that's one of the first things scientists would do.
SPOILER:
One of the biggest problems I had was when the lead character gave up command of his ship to a foreign captain. Allied power or not I cannot believe that that would ever happen.
If those issues had been fixed the movie could easily have been a 3 star movie. If there'd been a major emphasis on the dialogue and character development with Neeson as the star it might have even been a 4 star movie. But as it stands it's barely a 2.5 star movie. Some of the action sequences are pretty good. The aliens look cool. The alien ships are awesome. The geeky astonomer is actually ok. I mean the idea was great, it was just poorly executed. I knew that I was going to go see it the moment I saw its Super Bowl ad. Leaving the theatre I wonderd if the studio decided to put more money into future Transformers movie and the upcoming G.I. Joe 2.

Where did anyone, or the poster you quoted, say that they were ok with the constant "forehead of the week" ideas they kept putting out? Last time I checked almost every Trek fan disliked that whole aspect of having just another "forehead" come on each week. Just because something bad has happened before in Trek doesn't automatically mean that all Trekies are down with it just because "it's Trek". Bad is bad no matter where or when it's done and certainly doesn't give it a pass to keep happening again in the future just because past errors have been made.

Feel better now? "Humans with goatees," made me think of foreheads of the week. Which made me laugh because of the simiilarity. All that other stuff you posted, I guess if you needed to get it off your chest then it served a purpose.
