Was Bashir trying to hit twenty outer ring in darts during episode "visionary"?

Unanswerable.

I mean it could have been a self-fulfilling prophecy, whether unconscious or deliberate.

It's forty points -- that is a pretty good score. I can see why he'd try for that, especially if he was more certain of success than he otherwise might have been.

Not really the point of that scene however.

The only way to answer that would be if you could see inside Bashir's head. Which it not possible.

Well, being that you have to double in and double out, it would be easy to say yes. It may have been the case the first time, however he had his eyes shut after having O,Brien "predict" the out come, suggesting that the throw was random and yet the outcome was the same. I credit it to temporal mechanics.

>The scene doesn't make sense from a practical standpoint either since O'Brien was in a new timeline where the DS9 and the wormhole do not get destroyed and the dart game does not have to go the way that it did before.

Since it doesn't matter I'll just say, "Sure"

Bashir can probably hit anywhere on the dart board he wants even with his eyes closed.  But he could have thrown in randomly without much thought and it could have just happened to hit the same area by chance.  But to me it seems more probable that Bashir deliberately hit where O'Brien was expecting it in order to humor him (the same way Bashir has been humoring O'Brien in darts all along by letting him win).

Well, okay then.

Kinda makes you feel sorry for Julian in a way. You're this geneticly outcast freak, who's cover is to be as annoying and insufferable as possible, and you're so desperate for friendship and acceptance you'll play the equivilent of tic tac toe over and over again just to have some company.

Does genetic enhancement mean one will be able to do whatever he/she wants to do?  I don't think so.  I think it would enable one to perform much better than non-enhanced people, but I can't believe that that would necessarily guarantee perfection in everything one attempts.  Especially in a game involving throwing something.  Once the dart leaves Bashir's hand, it could go astray, such as if an unexpected gust of wind caught it.

For example, I heard that former New York Giants' coach Bill Parcells used to have the home-field workers open all the doors to the stadium whenever an opponent was kicking a field-goal attempt and have them close all the doors whenever the Giants were attempting a field-goal.

Eh, in "Doctor Bashir I presume" when Miles finds out about his genetic enhancement, O'brien demands he really play, and he promptly throws all three darts into the Bullseye.

In the case of the darts, yeah... he could do what he wanted. O'brien's solution was to make him play from ten feet further back so they could be "even"

That's just because the GE Doctor had to hide his status, tho.

As I said, just kinda makes Julian a pitiable character... a guy so lonely he has to play the equivilent of tic tac toe for him and fake losing regularly enough just to enjoy some company with O'brien.

Miles did tell Quark afterwards for his request that the Chief could be the station's fortune teller, "Dabo". If the good Doctor wouldn't have hit the outerring it would be indeed a predestination paradox, for his genetic status making to hit him the bullseye. To hit the ring instead would be possible of his background.

I always thought so. I mean, how can he miss.
