It seems like this entire era has just been forgotten about and that we keep going back in time rather than forward.

Personally I enjoyed all those series. Its just right now for the first time in a long time there isn't a current Star Trek series running. Sure we have JJ Abrams adaptations but it's not the same. We need a new series and obviously from Enterprises short stint the past is not the way to go...
I'm literally counting the days until the Star Trek convention in October.

Well I say take Either an Animation route, or a Video game route (something like Mass Effect, Yakuza or Persona)
It would be nince to add new characters or someone who is not starfleet, Like someone on the outside (pirate, PI Federation PD, School kid and Etc)

Absolutely we need a new series and the 24th century is where it's at, we already had Enterprise and one movie going into the past with another on the way, I believe we should keep moving forward, not back. With all the events of the last TNG movie, there is a lot to work with as far as plot lines, the new happennings on Romulus alone could keep writers busy for years.

I don't think "need" is the right word for it.
No problem with the idea.
Just come up with something good.

Well a Star Trek Titan series under Riker.... I dunno, let's face it Riker and Troi haven't exactly aged well.
A Star Trek Aventine series under Ezri maybe... but she wasn't exactly too popular and unless you read the books, most haven't, you'll be wondering why she left the show a lowly lieutenant unsure of herself to say the least, to being in command.
I was rooting for an Excelsior series, but we got Enterprise instead. Takei's too old for that now. Another 23rd century ship would probably face all the continuity blurbs Enterprise did.
Beyond that the only other option is go further into the future. Even that would probably make people mad as I'm sure they won't read every single novel that took place after it and ensuing more continuity errors.
Guess you could float out radical ideas like a series based in the mirror universe or push for the JJ universe crew to get a series.

What are you kidding me? Marina Sirtis is a beautiful older lady. And Frakes is not bad-looking as an older man. They just wouldn't make very believable young/early middle aged characters.

You know, with the popularity of the Star Wars cartoon, a new animated series may not be a bad idea. But most of the fans still want a series with REAL people as well. Riker on Titan is a good premise (I think Troi is as lovely as ever), Provided someone pitches a good script to the network for it, and Frakes and Sirtis are willing to put on the Starfleet uniform for one more tour, we could have us a damn good show. As for crew, there are any fine candidates to choose from, from TNG, DS9, and Voyager franchises.
