Prometheus is the next installment of the Alien franchise, though it is not directly involved with Alien. It is Directed by Ridley Scott (Director of Blade Runner, Gladiator, Alien).

Prometheus is Released on June 7th in Australia, June 8th in the US and most of the world

It looks like it is gonna be a good one. The Alien prequel that's not an Alien prequel.

Yes ! I have been following the development and the trailers ! It does look good , very good ! with outstanding actors , Michael Fassbender , Charlize Theron and Noomi Rapace !

Which begs the question.. Why did John Carter bomb so badly ?!

What can we do with Crazy Sean Young ? Why , put her in a Firefly Movie !!

You do realize the new film is a remake of the 1951 to which the '82 film is it's self a sequel to.

Aliens was a fantastic movie trying to recreate that would be stupid and it wouldnt work. I've seen the previews and this does kinda give the feel because of the low light the director uses, the broken electical work, the space suits. This movie reminds me of a few movies however, predator with adrian brody,

Well, this certainly looks interesting.

While I very seldom go to the movies any more (just so dam expensive now!!!), the original Alien is one of my top 5 movies of all time, so, I guess I can't pass this one up.

OK, just saw it....

And I got one word: BIZARRE!!!!!! No I take that back. This movie is way beyond bizarre. It is to bizarre what King Kong is to Curious George. What Godzilla is to the Geico Gecko. It is the most bizarre, mind-blowing, mind-bending, mind-warping, head-scratching movie ever. Period.

While I'll try to avoid spoilers, I'll answer the question that's been asked the most: does it explain the Aliens' origins? Yes, but it leaves a lot of questions unanswered as well.
And if anyone can explain the opening, you'll have my eternal gratitude.

Yes, it does, but here's what makes no sense to me:

********SPOILERS OUT THE WAZOO FOLLOW!!!! YOU ARE WARNED!!!!**

Chronologically, it makes no sense. This is supposed to take place just before Alien, but, in Alien, when they find the Space Jockey, they mention that his remains are partially fossilized, implying that he had been there for hundreds, maybe thousands of years. At the end of Prometheus, the Space Jockey is impregnated by the mother of all face-huggers.

So, time-wise, something's off.
