Well unless you live under a rock everyone knows that marvels latest movie The Avengers came out this weekend after a four years and a five movie buildup. So what are the thoughts of the people that have seen the movie.

My thoughts are that it was weak at points, but the battle in New York and other parts more the made up for those scenes. IMO marvel will have a challenge topping this one.

Just got back from the movies.  Hubby, DS#2 and I liked it

I agree that there were some weak bits, but overall it wasn't bad.  Loved Hulk and Thor   and Hulk with Loki

It was okay. Watchable. Parts of it came across as a bit forced, and actually I found the battle scenes to be kind of silly, although the design of the monsters was cool. As I suspected, some of the heroes were better than others. I also thought Loki was good.

I thought the best part was seeing Stan Lee in the final montage scene.

I believe the only thing from Joss Whedon that I've ever liked was the original Buffy theatrical film with Kristy Swanson.

Well, that has now changed...

I thought The Avengers was the most enjoyable popcorn flick since ... well, probably Abrams' Star Trek.  I had an absolute blast.

And I wasn't the only one; the audience I was with was laughing, cheering, and loving every minute of this movie.

(But the Hulk stole the show.)

How they can call that movie the Avengers, I just don't know!  There was no John Steed or Emma Peel!  It didn't even take place in England.

Yeah I know, the theater I was in broke out in applause when hulk beat the crap out of Loki, as well as at the end.
Btw, in that credit scene, was that thanose, or some other space based marvel villain?

According to IMDB;

SPOILER: There is a scene part way through credits: Marvel Character Thanos appears with The Red Skull by his side. They are both looking down on Planet Earth with Thanos smiling, stating that they underestimated Earth.

We didn't stay for the whole credits like we usually do so we missed it.

Actually they appeared to have two credit scenes this time around. The Thanose scene which was just before the black screen credits, and a scene after the credits. Unfortunately I didn't stay for that scene.

I loved it. It was what I was expecting out of the movie, and the interactions between the characters made sense. Especially loved the bit with Hulk and Loki.

SPOILER: You can see the endings on YouTube.

It's not the Red Skull, it's that guy Loki was talking to earlier that has his eyes covered so you see his mouth. He's stating how fighting the humans will be courting death. The camera moves and you see Thanos standing there and he smiles.

The other one is the team eating that food/restruant that Stark kept referring to.
