Hi everybody. I am a media student from Australia. I have been given a task to explore fan culture. I am particularly interested in Star Trek and would appreciate it if you could fill out the attached survey! Thanks so much

Are there supposed to be two sites because they each lead to just the one?

so this is like the fourth person on here claiming to be doing research for svhool. I think I'm going to start calling BS on these folks. Me thinks they're just bored geeks creating surveys for the hell of it.

Hey everybody,
I wanted to thank you all for helping and filling out the survey!
With regards to Beersnark, there are over half a million Star Trek fans on this site so chances are there'll be a few students doing some research and asking for help filling out a survey. It's not BS. I can assure you that I'm not bored with life that I have so much time to create a survey for my pleasure. I have plenty of uni work and paid work to do.
The presentation went fine. A few issues with my tutor but that's something else to deal with. The results were pretty interesting.
It's interesting to see how people view Star Trek and what impact the show/movies has made on their lives. Some people do take it very seriously. Some equate it with religion. I found that not many people who did this survey did.
There has been quite a bit of research on examining the correlation between Star Trek fandom and organised religion.
I wanted to see how precise, if at all, that was.
Understandibly, the majority of the fans who completed the survey, know where to draw the line between reality and fiction. Also, the majority of you have said that Star Trek has helped define your morals and beliefs, for example, equal rights, development of social issues, mutual cooperation, etc.
It's great to see how Star Trek has helped scientific/technological advancements. eg. mobile phone technology, google earth, NASA naming their prototype shuttle: Enterprise in 1976, etc.
Thank you guys again so much!
Yaniv
