Spock's mother never really died and Vulcan (planet) was always there in the series, what would the change in the time line in the new movie have on Voyager? I know it seams like it would not change much but Tuvok talks about his family whom live on vulcan...Plus Captain Janeway and kirk are around the same timeframe correct?

Tuvok's history would be much different. Not sure about Janeway or the others.

No I dont understand.

Are you suggesting that Tuvok wouldnt be friends with Janeway because there are less Vulcans around?

Remember, Tovok wasnt born on Vulcan.

^ No, but maybe one or more of his ancestors was. Even if none of them were killed when the planet was destroyed, it's likely their history would have played out much differently than in the prime universe. So Tuvok might not even be born in the Abramsverse.

Vulcan was destroyed in 2258

Tovok was born in 2264 on a Vulcan colony.

Tovoks father was a starfleet officer in Kirks era........Its hightly likely that his parents were already off world.

Tuvok was born on Vulcan, and he was an ensign during The Undiscovered Country. But he was very young at the time, and remember Vulcans live to be nearly 200.

Janeway and Kirk are NOT at the same time at all!! TNG, DS9, and VOY are contemporary - in the same timeline 80 or so years after Kirk in the 24th century. Remember, in the Voyager pilot they start out at Deep Space 9 and they have a conversation with Quark.

So as for the new movies impact on Voyager, who knows? Besides, its an alternate reality, and the Star Trek Universe is filled with those. So anything is possible.

Dont people do any research before they post to at least avoide making such EASY MISTAKES??

1st..... the voyager episodes "Flashback", "Hunters", and "Unimatrix Zero, tell us he was born on the Vulcanis Lunar Colony. Not Vulcan.

which means it was a colony of Vulcans, on a moon that belonged to the Vulcan goverment. But it doesnt tell us where that moon was.Either way, he wasnt born on Vulcan.

2rd...those same episodes tells us that tovok was born in the year 2264 and entered starfleet academy at the age of 25.

The Undiscovered Country took place in 2293, which means Tovok was about 29 years old at the time of The Undiscovered Country.Young for a vulcan maybe.

Janeway and Kirk are NOT at the same time at all!!

No one ever made that claim.

ok, I admit I was wrong about where Tuvok was born. As for Janeway and Kirk being at the same time or not, the original poster thought they were.

When I was at "Star Trek: The Exhibition" at the Science Center in St. Louis, they had this huge timeline which included all 5 live-action series plus all the movies. There was a sort of paradox involved with The Voyage Home and Star Trek (2009) (which I refer to as "New Kirk"). At the beginning after ENT, they said that Vulcan was destroyed. But later, when they got to The Voyage Home, it said that the Enterprise crew began their exile ON VULCAN. I've seen all three Vulcan homeworlds (meaning the one they show in TOS, the one from The Voyage Home, and the one in New Kirk), and they all look exactly the same. So the Vulcans didn't just choose a new planet and call it Vulcan. The chances that they would find a planet exactly the same as their old one are astronomical. What's the deal with that? Either JJ Abrams simply forgot about that when he destroyed Vulcan, or the events in The Voyage Home simply happened a different way with our new crew.

^ I think you misunderstand...the 2009 movie isn't a prequel. It's a reboot.

When Nero and Spock went back in time, they accidentally created an alternate timeline that runs parallel to the old one.

It's a reboot that has a place in canon.

And the new timeline started in 2233, when the Narada emerged from the black hole and attacked the USS Kelvin. Spock explains it all in the movie.
