so in about 20 years the tech on it will become outdated so they could give it to the diplomatic core to use as a counsel ship

In Trekverse...
The NX-01 is the first warp five ship, called Enterprise, making the NX class the Enterprise class, if UESPA follows the first of a kind class convention.
in real life, the nuclear carrier Enterprise was the first and only of a kind, but (as Ronco Peel would say) there is more, the shuttle that NASA has recently decomissioned was prototyped with a ship called... ta ta ta taaa "The Enterprise", and was presented by the actors of the original series back in the 70s!, so the Endeavor is actually an Enterprise class!

sorry, but that doesnt make any sense to me.Can you explain?

if you make enterprise its own class and you name the flagship the same name. that means you can build only one ship for that class. you cant have two flagships....it would defeat the term.

One damn minute, Admiral.

^ Why? If you build a Resolute-class starship and make the prototype (USS Resolute) the flagship, that doesn't mean you can't make more Resolute-class ships.

your still not making any sense or explaining the "why" of your statement.

if they make a new class of starship, and name the class "enterprise" then thats the name of the class.

If they also name one of the ships ENTERPRISE then it would be the vnasme bof the ship and class.

None of that would preclude the ship from being a flag ship or from the class haveing a few to the line.

The newest Enterprise is, I believe, the first sovereign class ship, the largest in the fleet, so unless Picard finds a way to get the new one blown up as well, we have no need for a new class just for the Enterprise.

To begin with, you are in error about the sovereign class ship as the largest in the fleet The Galaxy class ships [Enterprise D] were bigger then the Sovereign class ships.

Also...........Why would you believe something bthat has NEVER been said/stated within the series?

It was NEVER stated that the Enterprise E was the FIRST sovereign class ship, no less, a review of all the evidence suggest there was most likly a USS Sovereign well some timre before the Enterprise E was made.

Just look at other starfleet ships we knmow to be the first in their class.

The first Defiant class ship was named the USS Defiant.

The first Excelsior class ship was named the USS Excelsior

The first Galaxy class ship was named the USS Galaxy

The first Prometheus classe was named the USS Prometheus

Keep in mind that Geordie said "The Enterprise-E is the most advanced ship in the fleet". That implies that either the Enterprise is the first Sovereign class ship (maybe the USS Sovereign was just the design prototype?) or the USS Sovereign was destroyed/deccomissioned prior to 2373.

I would say no the Enterprise mustn't. A ship is also only as good as its captain - as is said.

This actually makes me think of something similar. Star Trek is actually not considered science fiction, but as a genré of its own. For instance, I once went to a science fiction mini con. There were quite a few guys and only 1 or 2 girls. I reckoned that is how it must be with science fiction. I later went to a Star Trek mini con. There were more girls than guys. I was surprised. A girl said it appeals to them due to the good looking men, and the equality women have. Oh well, many other science fiction shows made after Star Trek were probably more like Star Trek. Thus, Star Trek then not in its own genré.

Sorry, but thats 100% incorrect.

It only means that The E was more advanced based on being the lastest to be built.Which one would expect.

Who knows when the first Sovereign class ship was built.........maybe it was a month before the E...........maybe it was a year or 2.But the bottom liner is one would expect the lastet built to have the improvements that came from the class's prototype madien voyage.

Allegedly the USS Sovereign was the protoype of the Sovereign class, but developed several problems.  Consequently, the Enterprise-E was probably the better-built ship.

The problems were, apparently, eventually resolved, and the novel A Singular Destiny says the Sovereign was docked at Starbase 22, in 2381.

It has been called the "sister ship" of the Enterprise.

yes, every ship in the same class is a "sister" ship to the others in its class.
